Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
The name comes from the Pitchfork rebellion of 1685 the last battle to be fought on English soil of the Civil War. A golden bitter with floral citric hop aroma. It has a hoppy predominate taste which is slightly sweet and fruity and leaves you wanting more.
Pitchfork was judged to be the Best Bitter of the Year in 1998 at the Great British Beer Festival and has been a finalist in the last three years.
Pale malt; Fuggles and Goldings hops.

Cask at Max’s in Baltimore. Cloudy dark yellow, thin white head that disappears rapidly and leaves massive lacing. Aroma of citrus and malt, with a bit of white pepper. Taste is dominated by the malt, but well-balanced, dry bitter, peppery finish. This is pretty much what a traditional English bitter should taste like - not over the top, not massively hopped or highly spiced. Classic example of the style, properly served.

Light aroma of hops, flavor is somewhat bitter and one dimensional. Watery body. Meh.

Bottle. Pours a hazy murky orange brune with a white head. Bitter soapy metallic notes. Hints of appleish bittering notes, nickle and tine. Puddy accents and dirty money. Copper bitterness, did i say metal? Some dingy malt and a light appleish moth tone. Yup drain pour, okay time for a 10% stout to make up for the shortcomings here.

I’m sure this beer is better fresh from a cask in the shadow of the brewery because this imported bottled version is fairly mediocre. It’s a pale gold topped by a small amount of white bubbles. The aroma is biscuity with a good dose of floral/grapefruit rind hops. It is interesting how reminiscent the Fuggles and Goldings are of the American "C" hops. The flavor is just a bit too bitter for the thin body of the beer. Ultimately, it’s an uninteresting experience that has undoubtedly lost something in its travels. A disappointment but probably only in their choice to export without being able to preserve its proper character.

9th June 2008. 8 months past BBE date. A bland tepid watery bitter. A little frothy creamyness and not much else to note. Boring.

Yeast, lemon, bread, and pepermint aroma notes. Golden with thick forthy white head. Lemon and bready flavours. Full body with bitter dry finish.

Pours a cloudy golden colour, nice frothy head which leaves lots of lacing all the way down the glass. Grassy aroma on the nose carried over and mixed with hoppy aroma in the mouth

Cloudy with a frothy head which disappears. Not much of an aroma but a hint of flowery hops. Tastes of bitter hops.
