Gose is a rarely brewed regional specialty beer from Northern Germany. A slightly sour ale, it is known for its use of coriander and a unique saltiness that is derived from the local water source. Our first batch of Gose was brewed on a 7 bbl system with our friends at Odell Brewing Company. The recipe is the same now as it was then: a high percentage of malted wheat, acidulated malt to lower pH and impart a subtle sour character, with fresh ground coriander and crystal salt to finish the boil. As a twist on the original German brews, whole limes were pureed and added to the beer after fermentation. The result is a delightfully tart and most refreshing tipple, a perfect beer for a Texas celebration. Thank you to our friends in Colorado for sharing in this creation; thank you to our friends here at home for enjoying it with us after 18 years.

12 oz can. Deep gold in color with a small white head that disappears. Aroma is of salt, heavy lemon, straw, and light kitchen cleaner. Taste is of wheat, straw, lemon, light tartness, a hint of salt and a nice spicy pepper note.

I was not expecting this to be as good as I found it. Finished the night with it to avoid destroying my palate. Nice sour sweet aroma. Bland light not bubbly mouth feel. Beer is a little cloudy and not heady from tap. Taste is a yummy salty sour with some sweetness at the end. The sour is lime like

Extra from errl-thanks, Chris. Nose is wheat and lime. Lightly cloudy gold. Tastes like a good shandy, tons of lemon-lime soda, some crisp light hops, very lightly salty. Love it. Not as tart as I’d want in a gose, but Real Ale is nailing some crushable hot weather beers.

9/5/2014. From can. Light amber color with a thin white head. Fresh, fruity aromas with hints of spices. Flavors are sweet and fruity with light saltiness. Very refreshing.

Can. The look is golden bright in color, light white head, and hazy. The smell is lime, limon salt, fruit, light but nice, and good. The taste is super refreshing, nice Texas summer beer. Like a bad margartita that somehow is still really good.

Can from Flying Saucer Ft Worth. Crisp, clean, light salinity, wheat, tart. Not overly sour, but refreshing and good.

Can from Houston St courtesy Fratto. Drank from the can so I have no idea about appearance. Aroma is very much like a Gatorade. Salty, grains and some tart notes. Flavor is salty, weak flavor and watery. Light ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Refrigerated 12 oz. aluminum can, from blutt59, poured into a glass. Hazy pale golden with small white head which dissipates quickly. Aroma is lime, medium body, low carbonation, and no lacing. Taste is lime, some tart, hints of coriander. Pretty good, the lime works for me.

Pours very pale yellow. I’m not sure if my eyes were deceiving me but I got a hint of green also. Smells predominately of lime and coriander. Taste is lime and coriander with a hint of salt, though its definitely a beer. Tiniest little tart kick. I liked Westbrook Gose better, as it was more tart and flavorful, but this was definitely an enjoyable beer. Could see myself sessioning this for sure.

Wheat and corinander are the primary aromas rising from a slightly hazy pale golden pour. A short lived white head provides no lacing. Salt, lime, and corinander are the flavors noted initially but a nice wheat presence makes itself known in the finish. The citrus flavor on the sides of thevtongue continues well into a long pleasing aftertaste. Medium body and crisp carbonation. Overall, I liked this beer - nice combination of balanced flavors. I’m sad I only purchase one.
