Gose is a rarely brewed regional specialty beer from Northern Germany. A slightly sour ale, it is known for its use of coriander and a unique saltiness that is derived from the local water source. Our first batch of Gose was brewed on a 7 bbl system with our friends at Odell Brewing Company. The recipe is the same now as it was then: a high percentage of malted wheat, acidulated malt to lower pH and impart a subtle sour character, with fresh ground coriander and crystal salt to finish the boil. As a twist on the original German brews, whole limes were pureed and added to the beer after fermentation. The result is a delightfully tart and most refreshing tipple, a perfect beer for a Texas celebration. Thank you to our friends in Colorado for sharing in this creation; thank you to our friends here at home for enjoying it with us after 18 years.

Strong, natural, lime aroma. Slight tartness, mild salinity (not much more than a salty sensation) and lime in the flavor and mouthfeel. There is a little malt sweetness. Balanced finish with a smidge of lingering lacto acidity. A nice sipper, although I’d like a stronger acidity.

Pour is pale orangish yellow with a lot of tight bubbly white head. Nose has a moderate mineral, light sulfur note, some plastic and green apple. Taste is more lemon, green apple, faint sulfur, a light saltiness, moderate mineral. Body is a touch syrupy, fairly dry, assertive carb.

Rated based on notes taken 25 May 2014 -- On tap. A very nice gose. Nothing exceptional other than well crafted in general. Would drink again.

12 ounce can thanks to Errl. Pours a hazy yellow color with a big white head of foam and respectable retention. The aroma hits me with lemon zest and lime juice. Sort of reminds me of sprite. Sweeter citrus taste. No acidity is detected. Light body and medium to high carbonation. Enjoyable.

Sample at Ale Alpharetta, from Dave. Slightly hazy yellow, with no real head. Big nose of ginger, lemon juice, and salt. Mildly sweet, salty, and a little tart. Light, smooth, and a touch sticky. Very easy, smooth, and clean. Worth drinking lots of this!

Pours slightly hazy golden, thin eggshell head. Aroma is ueasty and fruity, not strong but inviting. Flavor is yeasty with pear and apple notes, a whisper of malt. Texture is thin and lacks fizz, but it goes down OK. Not the best way to celebrate an anniversary, but, well, I am not the #1 fan of this style. Heck, give it a fair shake.

Can: Light, hazy gold with a small white head. Lime, wheat aroma.... Taste is solid lime, wheat malt.....not a great deal of salt...primarily just lime flavour. Refreshing taste....but comes across as more of a lime-driven radler than a Gose.

Can. Sour lemon-lime and wheat malt aroma. Hazy golden yellow with giant but short-lasting head. Sweet tart lime, light salt and wheat malt flavor. Light body. Tasty but lime tends to dominate.

Definite sharp citrus aroma. Pours a clear gold in color like a pils. Lime flavor a bit like Corona but with added coriander flavors. Overall, this is really tasty... definitely a warm weather brew.

Cloudy, almost milk colored white-ish. Huge carbonation means a quick falling giant head. No lacing. Huge rush of carbonation when drinking. A real burp-maker. Taste is very tart, very sour malt. Some notes of muted lemons. Not very good to be honest. And carbonated excessively.
