3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a leathery brown with little (if any head) and by the time Iím typing there is just a thin ring of bubbles around the edges of the glass. Aromas are of roasted malt with just a hint of chocolate, autumn leaves and soil and a little bit of nuttiness. Flavor is a nice mix of roasted malts as noted in the aroma with a little bit of a cola edge... Itís the best of the Real Ale sampler from the night, and thatís saying something, since Brown Ales are generally something I donít get too excited about.

Bottle. Dark, rich red color with a little white head. Aroma is mostly caramel. Flavor combines toffee, a little milk chocolate, and toast. Overly sweet, but not a bad beer and my favorite of the Real Ale mix pack.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown. Thin head. Nutty, sweet with light nuts - good appetizing aroma. Relatively full body is nutty, toasty. Well-made, nicely-balanced and quite moreish. One of the better brown ales Iíve had lately.
