Caramel brown with a hint of chocolate, Brewhouse Brown melds four kinds of malt to create a satisfying, thirst-quenching brew. Best enjoyed at 55 degrees, this ale is slightly rich and roasty, yet leaves a dry finish. It is the perfect companion for a hearty meal.

Of the three Real Ales in my Kroger sampler six pack, this is my favorite. Medium-brown ale, with some lacing in the glass. Clean, nutty aroma, with notes of cocoa and malt. The taste is a bit sweeter than the aroma, but that’s a good thing. I was surprised at the depth of the flavors, and the roasted goodness of the brew. The palate is a bit oily but it works in this case, and leads to a lingering, smooth if a bit sour finish. I like this very much and I will look for it in a six pack by itself!

Nutty aroma that goes with the smooth nut and small amount of chocolate malt on the palate. Deep brown in appearance and overall very tasty brown ale with a touch of bittering hops. Pleasant on the palate and could be considered sessionable.

Pours a nice chocolatey brown color with off-white head. Cocoa, caramel, and some roasted malt on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a nice chocolate note.

Really nice brown with nutty, caramel and chocolate notes. Yet another beer I should be drinking more often.

Bottle poured a hazy brown hue w/ medium beige head diminishing to a thin cap w/ lacing. Light to moderate cola aroma. Initial flavor is medium sweet w/ a mild bitter finish. Tastes are chocolate, caramel, brown sugar, dark rye bread, and lightly roasted malts. Medium bodied, watery mouthfeel, and a light tannin in the finish.

Great American Brown ale from Texas. Nice malty aroma, dark brown with tan head. Medium bodied with good bitterness and a nice dry finish leaves you ready to have another. Among the better America brown ales that I’ve had.

Toffee, dark chocolate, espresso. A bit sweet. Toasted malt. A bit bready. 6 pack sampler from Kroger. I didn’t know what to expect, but this is a great, well rounded and balanced ale.

Brown bodied, light beige head. Coffee and coffee dough like malts. Light bitterness, creamy enough, high bubbly carbonation, which I works well I think. Tasty brew. (On tap at The Liberty Tavern Austin)
