A rich, robust porter with a dry finish. Brewed with organic hops, malted barley, and Ruta Maya Shade Grown organic coffee beans from Chiapas, Mexico. Located on the town square near the Blanco River, Real Ale is a great destination for a day trip in the Hill Country. Start with a tour of the brewery and sample our fine libations. Take a dip in the refreshing spring-fed river. When hunger strikes, BBQ at the park or try the local fare. Blanco also offers antique shops and art galleries. Available all over Austin, and at various bars, restaurants, and grocers in the Hill Country, San Antonio, Dallas/Ft. Worth, and Houston. Be sure to ask for us by name at your favorite places. Thanks for your support. ABV: 5.6%, IBU: 40, OG(plato): 14

12 oz bottle in pint glass. No head. Pitch black, nothing happening much on the nose. Kinda like a toned town sweet stout with subtle notes of coffee and dark malts. Somewhat tasty... but I'm looking for a bit more complexity. Sour and bitter finish that seems not in the beer but rather that the carbonation is not right. Just short of the mark. Not quite sessionable but not really worth it to just drink one either if there are other available options. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a deep dark brown with almost no head, a bit of carapils could help as it looks a bit tired before I start......aroma of chocolate and overwhelming coffee, with a hint of smoke......taste is much like the aroma a smoked coffee with a hint of chocolate fading into a slightly bitter ending with a medium mouthfeel.

On draught at Freakin’ Frog. Brownish-black color with a medium foamy tan head that recedes steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Light-bodied with a roasty coffee and malt flavor with some chocolate in the background. The finish is sweet with a caramel mocha aftertaste. Above average overall.

If you like coffee, you’re going to like this one. Pours a nice brown color with off-white head. Coffee, coffee, and some roasted malts on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a nice coffee note.

[Bottle] Deep, dark brown pour with a dense beige colored head. Abundant roasted coffee aroma with lighter hints of vanilla. Dark roast coffee, dark chocolate and light wood ash in the taste. Nice roasty and mildly acrid finish. Average palate. Pretty good! Tasting notes from 2012.
