Best by 01FEB12 A: pours brownish black with under a finger of off-white foam which falls quickly to a central cap and rim. Dark. No lace. S: smells like coffee (not as strongly as I would have thought), and like a dry porter. Some toasted malts, some soil, a little nuttiness. T: The coffee takes second seat on this beer. The porter is very nutty, almost a burnt cashew tone with some vegetal tones. the coffee comes back around, but in a sweet sense. Finish is a little gauzy. Has a nice creamy taste to it as well. M: Medium bodied with lower carb. Gives it a full bodied feel without feeling heavy or burdensome. Semi dry finish. O: Pretty good, as a coffee porter, I would suggest, but as a porter, I would offer as a decent example. Serving type: bottle 12-09-2011

Pours a pitch black with a thin tan head. The aroma is mostly dark chocolate and coffee with a hint of malt. Flavor is coffee and caramel, equal parts bitter and sweet. The palate is a little thin for a porter, but it’s what you’d expect from a Texas beer. Overall, not too shabby.

Poured from a bottle into my Big Hops sniffer. Dark ruby color with no head or lacing at all. Had an aroma of chocolate, coffee and nuts. No hop smell or anything else. Medium body with a rich, creamy texture. Great coffee taste which would make a great dessert beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Coffee and Carmel notes. Wish there was more creaminess to the porter as it's finishes slightly harsh. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Smells of caramel and chocolate malts. Black pour with a thin tan head. Medium sweetness and bitterness. Nice creamy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Great Porter.

Strong coffee flavor start to finish. Drank ice cold and caught a nice toasty caramel flavor on the back end. Wonderful in small doses.

12oz at my place by myself while playing video games on a Friday night. Pours black with creamy milk chocolate head. aroma is thin, coffee, toasty, caramel. Taste is very nice roasted malt and big coffee. Its too cold to get much else; and I’m not waiting for it to warm up. The night is young.

12oz bottle. Pours a dark black color with a light tan head. Aroma of bitter roasted coffee, slightly burnt, notes of charred wood and tobacco. Taste is less charred, has some sweet sugary malt in back, a faint touch of wood. Decent blend of coffee and roasted malt. Light body, soft and smooth, assertive carbonation.

On cask. Viscous, creamy body. Roasty grains accent the silky coffee notes which reach my nose and palate. Isn't too bold on the coffee front. Delicious, sessionable. Moar please!
