Pilsner is one of the world’s most popular beers and there are many interpretations of this style. The great pilsner beers of Germany, specifically Northern Germany, are the inspiration for our second lager - Hans’ Pils. These beers are known for being hoppier than the average pilsner and ours is no exception. In fact, at 52 IBU’s, it is hoppier than many pale ales. The featured hop in this beer is the spicy and herbal Tettnang Tettnanger hop. German pilsner malt yields a pale golden color and provides the perfect support for our blend of German hops. Our house German yeast strain ferments clean and dry which further adds to the authenticity of Hans’ Pils.

Again everybody tends to make a big deal about this beer. It’s all hype! Flavor is forgettable. It is too typical. Texas is yet to make a brew I’m proud of. With the exception of Real Ales Sisyphus.

Very refreshing lager with stronger than expected bittering profile. Nose is Euro hoppy, pour very nice thick head, beer straw colored and somewhat cloudy. Taste is very bitter pilsner with good malt character. Finish is clean and satisfying.

12oz can served in Spiegelau Pilsner Glass. Light straw color, fluffy and long lasting bone white head. Aroma is quite spicy and floral, with a touch of crackers and seemingly clean fermentation characteristics. Clean, cracker-like flavor with a long, lingering finish that is mildly fruity and quite floral and spicy, once again more hops derived than off-flavors from fermentation. The finish is rather bitter, in fact bracingly bitter, due to the dry finish and simple malt bill. This beer really highlights Tettnang Tettnanger and delivers the hop bitterness and dryness that are the hallmark of a German Pils.

I’ve really liked this brewery, and I am very excited to see a craft pilsner offered for sale in my local supermarket. Appearance is very, very nice. The head was so big I had to wait to pour in the last third of the can, and it lasted quite a while, leaving lots of sticky lacing. Aroma is also very nice, great spiciness and hop aromas, along with the grains and grasses you expect from German pilsners. The taste doesn’t disappoint either. You could almost pull it off as a pale ale if you served it in a white can with no label, it’s that hoppy. And the spiciness from the hops really accents the grains and grassy flavors perfectly. There’s somewhat of a citrusy flavor in the background too, offering a nice complexity to a delicious beer. Body is perfectly pils, light and well carbonated (but not over-carbonated). Awesome job again, RABC. Definitely I will be buying this one a lot in the coming months, as I assume that brewer’s cut altbier will run out sooner or later! As always, support your local breweries, especially when they’re this good!

Tap at the Ginger Man, Houston, 21/05/13. Clear blonde with a thin white head. Nose is citrus, grass, pale malts, lemon rind. Taste comprises light oeange notes, pale malt, citrus, light soap, grass, pinch of spice. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Ok pils.

Bottle:   Very pale straw, slight haze, lively carbonation, thin frothy white head, little lacing.   Grassy nose, minor sweetness, a touch of hay/straw.   Soft sweet grassiness up front, yet still remains a little dry and musty, barnish, with dried grassy notes on the backside.   Fairly crisp, clean, with a soft straw/hay dried grass like finish.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes dry, sweetness was all up front.   Lingering straw/hay notes.   Each drink actually makes you want to drink a bit more... yeah, it seems drier than most.   Very clean tho.   Well crafted Pils.   Thanks Bill!

Very bright, clear, golden straw pour. Big white head with a lot of carbonation. Classic lager aroma with a bit of additional hop earthiness. Very bready aroma. A lot of complex flavor for a beer so light. The malty breadiness is the biggest component of the flavor. Mild earthiness from hops. Finishes pretty dry and bitter. ---Rated via iPhone

Can. Clear golden pour with medium (quickly dissipating) white head. Nose is faint noble hop aroma, strong pilsener malt, no DMS, crisp, straw. Flavor is straw, faint noble hop, clean lager taste, with a pleasantly dry, bitter finish. Delicious summer beer, excellent interpretation of the style!
