Pilsner is one of the world’s most popular beers and there are many interpretations of this style. The great pilsner beers of Germany, specifically Northern Germany, are the inspiration for our second lager - Hans’ Pils. These beers are known for being hoppier than the average pilsner and ours is no exception. In fact, at 52 IBU’s, it is hoppier than many pale ales. The featured hop in this beer is the spicy and herbal Tettnang Tettnanger hop. German pilsner malt yields a pale golden color and provides the perfect support for our blend of German hops. Our house German yeast strain ferments clean and dry which further adds to the authenticity of Hans’ Pils.

Best by 04MAR14 Canned Pours an off-clear yellow ale with a loose white sheet. Smells nice and juicy with some grain, corn, white grape juice. Flavor is bitter, with some grain, some soil and hay. A little over bittered IMO. Medium on light bodied with hi and tight carb. Decent beer, albeit nothing spectacular - wonder what the beer was like when it won Silver at GABF.

Can: bright sunshine yellow color with a yeast filled cloudiness throughout. Foamy, leathery, cloud-like white head with nice staying power that leaves some spotty lacing behind. Aroma is very nice, sweet grains, fresh baked bread, & some clean yeast notes. Mild DMS. Taste is more fresh grain, lightly sweet pilsner malt, faint bread, lemon zest, & some spicy & leafy Saaz hops leading to a mildly bitter finish. Clean feel, somewhat salty & spicy hop character in the aftertaste. Faint metallic notes. Pretty nice lager all around.

More bitter than most pilsners I've had. Bright and hoppy. Straw color with thin airy head. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can thanks to Micheal! Pours a clear pale gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of bitter grass with backing sweet grains and biscuit. Flavor has grassy hops with sweet grains underlying and a bit of biscuit.

bottle shared by deyholla- thanks! Pours hazy yellow gold with minimal white head that dissipated completely. nose is strong yeast and straw. Taste is similar with lots of carbonation, some lemon, a bit of funk and wet straw. NOt a super big fan of pils’ in general, but its ok for the style

Location: Draft at Ginger Man (Houston), 8/20/13

Aroma: The nose is grainy malts, with some grass, and a little bit spice
Appearance: Cloudy golden color with a frothy white head and some mid-plus lace
Flavor: The flavor is grassy and a little bitter, light sweetness, and some noticeable spice
Palate: The body is medium, it has a tingly feel, lively carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: This is a pretty tasty Pils. It is not an amazing beer, and the carbonation hurts the drinkability a touch, but it is still quite tasty.

Pours straw yellow with a large white head. Smells earthy and spicy. Taste is quite bitter for a pilsner, but has the classic earthy hop notes. Light-bodied with a smooth texture and active mouth-carbonation, Real Ale Hans’ Pils finishes with a lingering earthy spice.
