COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pilsner is one of the world’s most popular beers and there are many interpretations of this style. The great pilsner beers of Germany, specifically Northern Germany, are the inspiration for our second lager - Hans’ Pils. These beers are known for being hoppier than the average pilsner and ours is no exception. In fact, at 52 IBU’s, it is hoppier than many pale ales. The featured hop in this beer is the spicy and herbal Tettnang Tettnanger hop. German pilsner malt yields a pale golden color and provides the perfect support for our blend of German hops. Our house German yeast strain ferments clean and dry which further adds to the authenticity of Hans’ Pils.

Sample at Flying Saucer in Austin. Pours a clear pale yellow color with rising bubbles and a medium white head that evaporates quickly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of herbal hops and malt. Light, crisp body with flavors of mildly spiced hops, malt and a bit of fruit. The finish is lightly bitter with a floral hops aftertaste. Decent all around.

Bonus beer courtesy of Terminus. 12oz bottle pours a pale slightly opaque gold with thin white head. The aroma offers up grainy malts to cereal notes as well as a bit of balancing citrus tartness in the background. The taste begins with a firm level of lemon to grapefruit citrus notes followed by a bit of floral hoppiness. Behind the hops I get a mild background of grainy maltiness and faint malt sweetness. It ends with grassy resin like hops and floral hops that ride into the after taste. Tasty hop forward Pils that is really sessionable. The overall flavor is just to my liking, not too sweet and above average hops.

(draught at addison saucer) clear medium yellow, lingering head of foam. Nose of oranges, alcohol, earthy hop bite. Taste is alcoholic, earthy, biscuit, stale orange, odd unsweetened honey notes. A bit heavy on carbonation. Not a favorite of mine.

Bottle:   Very pale straw, slight haze, lively carbonation, thin frothy white head, little lacing.   Grassy nose, minor sweetness, a touch of hay/straw.   Soft sweet grassiness up front, yet still remains a little dry and musty, barnish, with dried grassy notes on the backside.   Fairly crisp, clean, with a soft straw/hay dried grass like finish.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes dry, sweetness was all up front.   Lingering straw/hay notes.   Each drink actually makes you want to drink a bit more... yeah, it seems drier than most.   Very clean tho.   Well crafted Pils.   Thanks Bill!

Drank on tap at the Flying Saucer in Addison. The beer pours a clear yellow color with a white head. The aroma is grassy and earthy hops with some flowery notes. The flavor is grapes and biscuit malt but it is very bitter. The bitterness is well above what I expect in a pilsener and detracts from the overall flavor of the beer. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. The bitterness in this beer needs to be toned way down before I can enjoy it.

Tap at Flying Saucer, Houston.
Pours an average straw yellow with a nose of honey and corn malt. Flavor is malty corn with a bitter floral finish. Average mouthfeel. Refreshing.
