Bottle… Clear orange/copper ale with a small, wispy, off-white head. Decent retention. Toffee and black tea really stand out in the bouquet. Medium to full-bodied and oily with tingly carbonation. The flavor is unsweetened black tea infused with moderately sweet toffee and a light twist of lemon. Finishes bittersweet - more bitter than sweet. Bottle courtesy of BgThang!

Bottle shared by jbye4334. Pours clear amber with an average, creamy off-white head, mostly lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, cereal), average hops (flowers, perfume), light yeast (dough) with notes of pear. Medium bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

On tap. Creamy tan head over a clear auburn body. Great lace and retention. Aroma is fruity and slightly hoppy with toffee notes, leather and vanilla. Taste is oddly fruity, I can’t place it, but I think it is similar to fruit roll ups. Also toffee and coffee. Vanilla and a few currants. Watery mouth. Light bubbles.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 daknole (7193) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - FEB 28, 2010
Nice beer! Amber pour. Caramel, fruit, hops, citrus, mmmmm! Flavor is sweet and hoppy. I am really digging the few double ESB’s I have tried. This one is chewy and hearty. Really a good brew.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 womencantsail (6860) - Garbage Grove, California, USA - APR 2, 2011
A: The pour is a dark copper color with a soapy off-white head and minimal lacing.
S: This one pretty much just smells like toast and toasted malts. I was expecting a bit more hop character at least, but apparently I’m not going to get it. Maybe a touch of earthy and floral hops if you really strain yourself.
T: Like the nose, this beer is all about the toast/toasted malt. Mildly sweet but a fair amount of bitterness is present as well. Not a ton of hop flavor, either. Like with the nose there are just hints of floral and earthy hops.
M: Nice and medium-full in body with a moderate level of carbonation.
O: Nothing terribly bad about this beer, it was just a bit too one note for me.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Ughsmash (6666) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 18, 2011
Bottled. Poured clear medium amber with a wispy off-white head. The aroma picked up redder fruity notes with a little biscuity character beneath.. spicy and earthy accents initially, with some pine resin and citrus showing as it warmed up a bit.. smelled a little too skewed toward the sweets. The flavor found sticky-sweet honey and bready malts at the core, with pepper-accented fruit, pine, and earthy bitterness around.. quite bitter and assertive by the end.. not all that enjoyable. Medium-bodied with just OK feel and flow through the palate.. it was drinkable, but I really don’t need another.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of blutt59. Pours a hazy copper color with a medium head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, toffy, faint woody notes. The taste is fairly bitter with toffeeish notes and a hoppy finish. Medium bodied and kinda all over the place.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dogbrick (5993) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 17, 2013
Sample at Hay Merchant in Houston. This brew pours a reddish-copper color with a medium off-white head that recedes slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, toffee and fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of roasted malt, sweet toffee and ripe fruit. The finish is sweet and malty up front and leaves an herbal hops aftertaste. Decent overall.
