Deep golden and malty, with a spicy hop flavor and a subtle, well-balanced hop bitterness, Rio Blanco is a uniquely Texan interpretation of an English-style pale ale. The addition of Czech hops gives the ale a refreshing crispness and flavor that will satisfy you under the hottest Texas sun.

12oz bottle - poured a clear copper color with a small head. Not a fan of the hops in this one - a little too much like a skunky lager than a pale ale. So-so.

Lightly orange and just a touch hazy with a pretty good head and some patchy lacing. I detect a pronounced caramel malt component to the smell, along with a touch of herbs, fruits, and hops. Taste follows the smell, caramel malts seem to be the primary taste, accented with floral hops, fruity hops, and baked bread. Medium bodied and moderately carbonated. Finish is relatively crisp, leaving floral and caramel malt aftertastes. Overall itís not bad but not fantastic either. A solid offering tho.

Bottle courtesy of crajun from the Local Beer Swap Threeve. Thanks Kevin. Pours a faintly hazed amber ruby orange with a thin white head. Soft oxidized fruit, musky hops, old malt. Medium bodied, soft malt, a bit of oxidized malt, some old dusty hops. Soft malt, caramel, lots of filling carbonation. Long oxidized malt but nothing overly pruny. Just tastes old. Seems like itís old and may have been decent three or four months ago, but not a lot worth drinking now.

Spicy, earthy aroma with hops, pepper, and malts. Mildly bitter taste of hops, grass, and pepper, balanced out by nutty malts. Medium-to-light body with lively carbonation. The overall taste and mouthfeel exceed the aroma. Certainly not below my expectations.

Pours a thin white head. No lacing. Deep copper color. Aroma is mostly sweet malt. You can notice a little bit of hoppy spiciness in the aroma. Taste is also malty with crisp hop finish. ---Rated via iPhone

Rio Blanco Pale Ale has a thin, off-white head and a sort of murky, yellow-orange appearance, with many lacing rings, streaming bubbles, and some relatively large chunks floating about. The aroma is very muted, but with deep inhalations, one can detect some sweet malt. The taste is of sweet, sugary, medium-roasted malt, a bit of hop sting, and bread. Mouthfeel is medium, and Real Ale Rio Blanco Pale Ale finishes mellow, easy drinking, and delicious. RJT
