COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mysterium Verum. Scots Gone Wild marks the initial offering from Real Ale Brewing Company in the world of sour beers. Real Heavy, our strong scotch ale, was aged for 6 months in American oak barrels, during which time it underwent a dramatic refermentation due to the presence of a very special cocktail of wild yeast and bacteria. The end result is a dry, cherry-pie sour, with a subtle oak character and a bold tartness. OG: 20˚P

Fresh raisin color. Small tan ring head. Dark fruit and tart aromas. Flavor is initially tart and sour when the beer is cold. As it warms you can tell this is a sour Scotch ale as it tastes as such. Fortunately, for my tastes the sourness overpowers the trademark Scotch ale taste, a style of which I am not particularly a fan. However this beer is enjoyable. Its clean, flavorful, strong, and sour enough to be quite interesting.

2/24/12. On tap at the brewery during RBWG 2012. Hazy amber pour with a nice khaki head. Really nice aroma - slightly tart, bretty, a bit of sweet caramel, and plenty of wood. Similarly nice flavor with sweet caramel, wood, brett, and a bit of tartness. Tasty!
