COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mysterium Verum. Scots Gone Wild marks the initial offering from Real Ale Brewing Company in the world of sour beers. Real Heavy, our strong scotch ale, was aged for 6 months in American oak barrels, during which time it underwent a dramatic refermentation due to the presence of a very special cocktail of wild yeast and bacteria. The end result is a dry, cherry-pie sour, with a subtle oak character and a bold tartness. OG: 20˚P

Please, Scot, can I have some more? Prunes, cherries, raisin, bit of leather, but nothing offensive. Nice acidic bite that cuts throught the fruity sweetness. One of the best beers I’ve had at FT.

On tap at RealTail 2012. Pours a cloudy brown with a small frothy off white head that quickly diminishes to nothing. The aroma is oak, cherry, funk, and peat. Thin mouthfeel with a light tartness, vinegar, oak and nice sour finish. Wow really enjoyed this one. A very impressive sour from Real Ale.

(Draught) Pours an amber-brown body with a spare white head. Aroma of horse blanket, vinous, wet weathered leather, and oak. Flavor of vinous, sour cherry, oak, raisins, and caramel with a dry finish.. Nicely malty for a sour, which is not something I would ever expect to say for a sour.

(growler thanks to mora2000) cloudy rich brown-amber, lasting creamy fine tan bubbles. Nose of cherries, rich caramel, light peat, cream. Taste of cherry pie filling, bit vinegar, tart, delicious, complex and awesome.

(Draught at the brewery during RBWG 2012) cloudy deep copper pour with fine tan bubbles. Nose of caramel, tart Brett notes, and orange peel, smells just awesome. Taste of caramel, Brett, orange pulp, light scotch presence, very well carbonated. Nice beer!

On tap at Hay Merchant Anniversary. Pours a dark amber with an off-white head. Nose is funk, oak, and sour fruit. Taste is cherries, caramel and brett. Fantastic stuff. Medium mouthfeel with very good sourness. Best sour brewed in Texas, IMO.
