Lovely coffee and malt aroma. Pours with a thin head which dissipates immediately. Strong malt flavor with just the right amount of coffee. Finishes with a rather strong flavor that I could not place until I read another review of this beer. It’s metallic. Once I realized what it was the entire beer was ruined for me. This would be a top-rated brew if not for that metallic finish.

Bottle courtesy of cavie. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Smells of coffee, chocolate, fruity. Tastes of bitter coffee, lemons, some chocolate, peppery.

Thanks andrew! Dark brown pour. Aroma is full of good coffee, roasted malt and some chocolate. Very roasted flavor with high quality coffee beans and maybe some light chocolate. Well crafted.

( 12oz bottle with a drink before date of 12/29/09) pours black with nice creamy tan head. Lets red light through. Nose of black coffee and roasted malt. Taste is metallic, lightly creamed coffee, and molasses. Finishes with a nice creamy palette that gives way to unsweetened coffee and some metallic flavors. If it was a little sweeter, thicker and had the metallic component removes this could be world class. Solid backbone here.

12 oz. bottle served in shaker- poured a solid blackened brown color, low to no carbonation, one finger tan head formed and laced to some degree. Aroma of roasted coffee, roasted malt, and a hint of hardwood. Hits the mouth with a high-medium body, malt has a very slight note of sweetness, coffee is easy to spot and is welcoming, middle holds up fine, finish is lingering, but slowly drifts away. Getting another 6’er for when it gets really cold (40 degrees... yeah, I’ll be laughing).

12 oz bottle. Ok porter, needs a thicker palate and a little more bitterness. Would probably prefer it on tap.
