Half pint at Opal Divineís Penn Field. Orange color with small head. Barrel aroma and alcohol present. Delicious flavors of wood, wine, sweetness, Belgian yeast, oranges, cherries, and just a hint of bitterness. I would like more of this please. :)

Light golden with a thin ring of white foam. Funky earthy blonde malt aroma with a touch of booze and mulled red wine. The flavor itself has a woody tone thatís kind of overriding, some red wine undertones, gentle grassy tones, boozy yeast, and a earthy blonde trippel malt.

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2015 Draught at 575, 10/31/15.
Hazy, dark amber-to-auburn liquid has a small beige head atop that fades quickly to a ring.
Boisterous fruitiness in the nose shows off cherries, raspberries, strawberries and a malty sweet cream and vanilla. Some light earthiness, hints of cellar notes and light clove are the extent of the "Trippel" character. Certainly donít get much of that, but the barrel provides light grape and wood, as well, adding to the complexity. Alcohol is concealed, no flaws.
As far as in the mouth, itís sweet, thereís no getting around that. But it never seemed cloying or syrupy, not in the least. Rather it completely balances any tannin or sharpness from the wine barrel and conceals all alcohol. Moderate, tight carbonation helps keep the beer drinkable and more fruitiness of all kinds, as well as plentiful wine character and tons of caramel, toffee and honey-like maltiness all provide a fairly complex, interesting flavor profile. So taking it all as more of a wine barrel strong ale, it works wonderfully. As a BA Trippel, not so much. But no reason to hold it to style as I greatly enjoyed, regardless of style.

Draft. Aroma is bourbon booze an some sweetness. Appearance is a hazy bronze with some cream colored lacing. Taste is bourbon and some almost sour beer. Finishes some with Belgian yeast. Palate is good. Overall, a well done barrel aged beer. Would like to try again if I can ever find it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Fairly complex beer. Iíll have to go try the Devilís Backbone again to compare. Nice whiskey aroma with a Belgian yeast twist. Dark golden and clear color with a small head. Light palate with similar carbonation. Wine-like in feel. Grainy and sweet tripel flavors with a whiskey and oak boost. A little boozy. Enjoyed it.

This is definitely my favorite tripel. On the nose, the bourbon is clear. The taste is phenomenal with a nice sour finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Growler fill poured into a Unibroue tulip. Coppery orange with straw colored edges. Thin white head leaves quickly. Smells rich of Cabernet; black and blueberries, plum, big American oak. Tastes like a seamless blend of tripel and Cabernet. Yeast forward, dry, vinous texture. Oak, strawberry, red grape, cinnamon. Excellent beer. Hard to believe itís not rated higher.
