IrishBoy (2685), Bakersfield, California, USA Apr 11, 2008 Bomber from Bevmo, Valencia; Nose of Citrus and floral hops; Light copper with a big, glass-lacing, off-white head; Flavor is hop bitterness and also the finish! iowaherkeye (1832), Bakersfield, California, USA Apr 9, 2008 22oz bomber, no date. Clear medium dark orange with a one finger yellowish beige head, fair retention. Aroma of biscuity caramel, grain, light citrus, and not much else. Very light spicy hops once this warms. Grainy malts up front with some caramel. Alcohol doesn’t really try to hide with some minimal citrus in the background. Big bitterness peaking at a 6 in the dry finish with no real flavor from the hops coming through other than the mild citrus, which may be an overstatement. There is some light alcohol warmth in the back of the throat. Light to moderate carbonation with a medium sticky body. I think this is a DIPA failure and more along the lines of a bitter grainy barleywine, and not a good one at that. Kind of a suckfest, if you ask me. bsierra (213), Vista, California, USA Apr 8, 2008 Pours a deep redish hue with a sharp, crisp hoppy nose. Good solid off white head with nice retention. The taste is very hoppy with a somewhat subdued malt presence. Through the middle of my pint I could taste a little more of the malts but all and all this is a true iipa, with a pretty high abv which is masked pretty well by the hops. I would not serve this one overly cold, the flavor came through a little more after it warmed a little. A pretty intense iipa~ rustychiles (997), Mesa, Arizona, USA Apr 5, 2008 Pours a reddish brown with a small soapy white head. Aroma of grapefruit and hops. Flavor of pine, lots of hop bitterness, and not much sweetness to balance it out. Wow the hops are bitter in this one. If you love hop bitterness this beer is for you, but if you expect it to be balanced out by malty sweetness forget it. BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Apr 1, 2008 This one gave me a pleasant "bitter-beer face". It truly is one of the more pungeant brews I’ve tried. Unfortunately, it lacks anything other than resinous pine and grapefruit on the tongue. Is it possible to drink a liquid and develop immediate cotton-mouth??? This beer sucked the moisture right out of me. Had to follow it up with a Thirst Buster!!! UselessGdTaste (363), Long Beach, California, USA Mar 28, 2008 On tap at Beachwood BBQ. Big DIPA taste. Enough hops to make you thirsty while drinking the beer. Another winner from the green flash brewing co. Numenor (869), Richmond, Virginia, USA Mar 27, 2008 Great beer, dark red body with a nice off-white head. Some nice hops on the aroma, with a good malt backing. Taste is thicker than normally would be expected, yet very nice, filling out with some caramel and dark fruits. Ending is hoppy, though not sharp. TheEpeeist (1429), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 7, 2008 22 oz bottle. Clear deep amber with a white haze. Nose is grassy caramel and faint cider. Medium body with a mild carb tang. Taste begins like a barleywine and slowly develops a raw bitterness. Peppery finish. As expected hops have faded and muddled but still and interesting brew.
