Commercial Description:
Don't be fooled by the label depicting a Grim Reaper Santa Claus in a sleigh pulled by skeletal reindeer - this is not a Christmas Ale. "Sleighor" is an Imperial India Pale Ale. The intense hop bitterness, flavor and aroma will dominate at first. To complement, the body has a complex blend of malt and alcohol flavors. The ABV is 9.1%, and the IBU's are pushing the mid 80s. The entire family of Cascade hops is used. Cascade, Centennial and Columbus are spread throughout the boil, and a huge sack of Amarillo for dry hopping. The hop combination gives this brew a distinct profile true to its IPA roots. The presentation is clear copper with a thick tan head, coupled with billowing citrus and floral hop aroma. "Do You Dare" to enjoy this fine ale from the Reaper? Brewed at Sudwerk for ReaperAle.

Bottle: Pours an opaque copper color with a tan head. Aroma, citrus, pine, caramel notes, some brown sugar. Flavor, caramel, a piny bitterness, big malty notes. Bottle was probably a bit past it’s prime, but still solid.

bottle from bevmo. Clear golden with a foamy white head. Citrus and mild pine aroma. Sweet slightly bitter taste. Not as good as when Green Flash brewed it.

22 oz. bottle from BevMo (Tucson) - Glad to see this beer is being brewed again. When Green Flash stopped brewing this I wasn’t sure when it would appear agian. Pours a hazy amber color with a 3/4 finger thick off white head. Very light spotty lacing. Aroma is big pine, citrus, and floral hops. Flavor is mostly hops with a touch of residual malt sweetness. Suprisingly, there is very little astringency to the aftertaste. Medium body. Alcohol isn’t overbearing. Overall, a decent 2IPA.

Orange pour with minimal fizzy white head. Good hoppy and citrus aroma. First drink was okay, almost sweet and some spicy hops. Finish was bitter and soapy tasting. I couldn’t get the soap flavor out of my mouth. It really ruined the rest of the experience, which wasn’t bad.

Smells a bit hoppy. Flavor has some bite to it. A bit too strong in alcohol prescense and ended up giving me a bit of a headache so a lower overall score.

Picked up at Oceanside Bevmo. Pour is a very nice bronze with a decent, off white head. Aroma is mostly grassy hops and some malt. Flavor is pretty bitter up front. A little malt sneaks in near the finish. Pretty tasty. Nice, but lacks any subtlety...I know, it’s a IIPA. It just seems too one dimensional.

Bomber from Bevmo, Valencia; Nose of Citrus and floral hops; Light copper with a big, glass-lacing, off-white head; Flavor is hop bitterness and also the finish!

22oz bomber, no date. Clear medium dark orange with a one finger yellowish beige head, fair retention. Aroma of biscuity caramel, grain, light citrus, and not much else. Very light spicy hops once this warms. Grainy malts up front with some caramel. Alcohol doesn’t really try to hide with some minimal citrus in the background. Big bitterness peaking at a 6 in the dry finish with no real flavor from the hops coming through other than the mild citrus, which may be an overstatement. There is some light alcohol warmth in the back of the throat. Light to moderate carbonation with a medium sticky body. I think this is a DIPA failure and more along the lines of a bitter grainy barleywine, and not a good one at that. Kind of a suckfest, if you ask me.
