Saarlander (1577), Saarlouis, Germany Feb 16, 2006 A great brew for me, I opened it an hour ago, and its still got a small head on it, with plenty of lacing. Alcohol doesn’t smack you in the face, as I expected it would. I had a prime rib burrito with this one, very nice! lol. hopscotch (5437), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Feb 11, 2006 Bottle... Clear, orange ale with a large, frothy, off-white head. Excellent retention. The nose is pink grapefruit pulp floating in a vat of freshly squeezed island fruit and tangerine. Bitter as hell and fruity. The nice, solid, caramel malt backbone is only an afterthought as the lupulin clings to the back of my tongue and throat until my mouth is numb and my wind pipe is all but "cut-off." Ok, maybe I exagerrate, but the brew is really very bitter. Full-bodied and dry with lively carbonation. A hophead’s dream beer! Thanks go out to DarkElf for the bottle! lamas (709), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA Feb 11, 2006 22 oz. bottle. A hazy copper pour with a thick sandy head that leaves plenty of lace. Lots of strong, resiny hops in the aroma. Oranges dominate and are followed by some grapefruits, lemons and pine. Sweeter and fruitier aroma than other I2PAs I’ve had. Medium-bodied. Some maltiness, but mostly it’s just all about the varieties of hops. Acidic, herbal and bitter as hell! A very dry finish that lingers along with some warming alcohol. A very pleasant surprise. scraff (1921), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Feb 10, 2006 Tap @ Papago Brewing - Hazy orange, thin white creamy head. The smoke in this place was killing me, but I was able to get some nice sharp piney, earthy, apricot tones that mixed well with softer grapefruit and orange peel notes. Flavor was similar with deep earthy pine and citrus throughout, and a very faint hint of sweet malt in the end. Unbalanced for sure, but not a problem for a hophead to handle. Medium bodied, soft smooth carbonation, bitter finish. Very tasty D-IPA and perfect to go with the BBQ chicken pizza....

I’ve always been more of a stout guy, but I was definitely having a craving for some hops just prior to opening up this one. ( craving hops, is this the start of becoming a Hop-Head? )
orangey amber on the pour with a great looking foamy head. mmmm smell those piney and grapefruity hops! sweet caramel helped to balance out the hop profile but the backbone malts could have been a little more dominant. all in all it was mission accomplished, it satisfied my hop craving, good beer! wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA Feb 3, 2006 22 ounce bottle. I found this five miles from my house. So now I’m in a good mood. Poured dark orange with a thick white head. Good retention and lace. Aromas of citrus, graitfruit, caramel and rye. Taste was very nice but one dimensional with similarities to the Hop Rod Rye. Finish was quite sweet. This was a nice find. blankboy (3157), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 23, 2006 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, tupalev, Dave B. and R. -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a hazy, slightly bubbly, orange with an average size off-white head. Kind of a unique aroma, yes there’s tons of hops but it also has a salty smell to it -- it’s different and very pleasant. Flavour is BIG juicy citrus hops and that’s pretty much it, stay far away from this one if you’re not a Hophead. Very dry and bitter and there’s a bit of an alcohol burn. Sure it’s one-dimensional but if you like the hops then it’s quite tasty -- a great IPA! tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 22, 2006 Bottle, shared with the crew, thanks Harry. Strong sweet, and of course, hoppy aroma. Deep orange, big white head. Huge hops in taste - strong alcohol as well. Not terribly balanced at all, even at 9% it needs more body. But those lovely lingering hops come through and warm me up - I really enjoyed it, balancing be damned! A hopheads dream...
