Ungstrup (14760), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 5, 2005 [At RBSG 2005] An amber beer with a small beige head. The aroma is sweet and very hoppy, but also with notes of caramel. The flavor is very sweet and very hoppy with alfa acids mingling in. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark Nov 3, 2005 65 cl bottle. No yeast in bottom. Amber colour with a very nice head. Great aroma of flower very hoppy. Also extreme hoppy flavour of bitter and dryness. Overall very fresh and nice IPA. mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Oct 28, 2005 Pours a light ruby/golden color. Aroma is hoppy with a bit of candy sweetness. Some pine and citrus as well. Hoppy flavor, but not super hoppy. Alcohol is noticable, not alot but it is there. A bit of malt is present. Nice sipping beer. Nice bitter finish. Bomber. Aubrey (2773), Denver, Colorado, USA Oct 11, 2005 Bright golden; nice head. Very rich, smooth and velvety texture. Alcohol is hidden fairly well, but it’s definitely warming. Bold malt flavors and intense hops. Lofty aromas of honey, flowers and nectar. Healthy bitterness. Ballsy, tasty double IPA. Silphium (2117), Haslett, Michigan, USA Sep 19, 2005 Sampled at the Ohio Labor Day gathering, provided (I believe) by BBB63. Hazy amber body, medium cream/buff clumping head. Bready, light piney aroma with some fruit rind but balanced nicely by malts. Sweet, sugary grapefruit body with rind flavors and pine, bread, and toast, and flashes of alcohol. Full and creamy. A very good IPA that didn’t really scream "I2PA" to me, but I wasn’t aware of the high ABV when I sampled this! trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA Aug 30, 2005 I had this the same night I tried the Moylan’s IPA. Thank God I had that one first. Bronze pour with a huge head. Full of hops in the aroma with a good mix of pine and grapefruit. Powerful hops in the taste, mixed with a sweet malt back. Hoppy kind of bitterseet finish. Nice. BückDich (4793), McCall, Idaho, USA Aug 24, 2005 Bottle: Mahogany color, light head, light lacing. Nose of musky hops and malt sweetness, fairly basic and balanced. The flavor is spicy and winter warmerish. Finish is nice and balanced as well. Good! Aurelius (2643), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 24, 2005 Woody gold brown. A more mature tasting beer than the Papago Hop Father that this went back-to-back with. Rich, caramel, diacetyl and fruit. Satisfying palate. Better than the last Reaper beer that I had by a long shot.
