Commercial Description:
Don't be fooled by the label depicting a Grim Reaper Santa Claus in a sleigh pulled by skeletal reindeer - this is not a Christmas Ale. "Sleighor" is an Imperial India Pale Ale. The intense hop bitterness, flavor and aroma will dominate at first. To complement, the body has a complex blend of malt and alcohol flavors. The ABV is 9.1%, and the IBU's are pushing the mid 80s. The entire family of Cascade hops is used. Cascade, Centennial and Columbus are spread throughout the boil, and a huge sack of Amarillo for dry hopping. The hop combination gives this brew a distinct profile true to its IPA roots. The presentation is clear copper with a thick tan head, coupled with billowing citrus and floral hop aroma. "Do You Dare" to enjoy this fine ale from the Reaper? Brewed at Sudwerk for ReaperAle.

Clear amber pour with a short tawny head. Aroma of caramel, lots of hops, burnt herbal pine. Nicely toasted. Grapefruit mixed with a little farmhouse cheese. Loads of perfume. Somewhat gritty. Strong aftertaste of burnt sugar, lightly smoked grain and wood. Herbs and minerals. Very impressionable, but odd.

Good solid soapoy and oily hop leaf presence on the nose, with a flavor that is centered around caramel, some chewy malts and some sap/tree bark and wood. An OK beer but quite simple.

RBSG 2005. Dark amber, not quite brown body with a small off white head. Big double IPA with lots of hops and plenty of malt in both aroma and flavour. Resin is more prominent than citrus in my mind, and the alcohol is a touch more pronounced than ideal. Not bad.

(22oz bottle) Sampled at RBSG 2005 in Montreal. Foamy yellow head with a sediment-filled amber body. Nose of sweet hops and candy. A heavily malted coat overshadows the the Hi-C hop undertones. A malty imperial IPA - who’d a thunk it?

Cloudy red-brown color with a thin, fine head. Has a sweet, malty aroma with some dark hops and citrus. Flavor is sweet and malty on the attack which fades quickly revealing lots of hops bitterness then finishes with alcohol characteristics and lingering bitterness.Although it is an interesting progression of sensations it feels a little out of balance.

Soapy and creamy off-white head. Bright coppery amber color. Aroma... caramelly butterscotch hops... nice and fairly big. Taste is a general resiny caramel pine. Its a typical California IIPA, but good nonetheless.
