Commercial Description:
Don’t be fooled by the label depicting a Grim Reaper Santa Claus in a sleigh pulled by skeletal reindeer - this is not a Christmas Ale. "Sleighor" is an Imperial India Pale Ale. The intense hop bitterness, flavor and aroma will dominate at first. To complement, the body has a complex blend of malt and alcohol flavors. The ABV is 9.1%, and the IBU’s are pushing the mid 80s. The entire family of Cascade hops is used. Cascade, Centennial and Columbus are spread throughout the boil, and a huge sack of Amarillo for dry hopping. The hop combination gives this brew a distinct profile true to its IPA roots. The presentation is clear copper with a thick tan head, coupled with billowing citrus and floral hop aroma. "Do You Dare" to enjoy this fine ale from the Reaper? Brewed at Sudwerk for ReaperAle.

Lightly hazed garnet body topped by beige head. Aroma is moderately sweet, grapefruit, pine, caramel. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, grapefruit, pine, floral, mild alcohol warming. Medium-full body, light sticky. Alcohol well hidden. On the milder side of Double IPAs, quite nice. Thanks DarkElf!

(Bottle) Pours a lightly cloudy amber-orange body with a medium-sized creamy beige head. Aroma of caramel, grapefruit, pine, and dark fruits. Creamy, somewhat bitter palate. Nice blance of hops and malts with a hint of corriander.

Poured a dark ruby red color with an averaged sized, frothy off white head. Aromas of light oranges, pine and grapefruit. Tastes of pine, grapefruit with a trace of malts. Bitter bite. I expected little more of a sweet, malty balance for an IIPA. Body was a little on the thin and watery side as well. Alcohol content hidden.

Clear darkish amber, honest off-white head. Complex hop aromatics in the nose are backed by a more than fair toasted malt molasses-cookie like. Sweaty and earthy, vibrant and evolutive. Good balance for the style, rich malt and rich hops, no mistakes and we avoid the traps of acidity. Straightforward perhaps, but enticing, rich hop flavors array, going from one citrus to the other with tangerine surprisingly winning. Ample bodied, fair soft carbonation.

Bottle... Clear, orange ale with a large, frothy, off-white head. Excellent retention. The nose is pink grapefruit pulp floating in a vat of freshly squeezed island fruit and tangerine. Bitter as hell and fruity. The nice, solid, caramel malt backbone is only an afterthought as the lupulin clings to the back of my tongue and throat until my mouth is numb and my wind pipe is all but "cut-off." Ok, maybe I exagerrate, but the brew is really very bitter. Full-bodied and dry with lively carbonation. A hophead’s dream beer! Thanks go out to DarkElf for the bottle!

Pours a nice deep, dark copper ruby with a thick, sticky, and well-lacing off-white head. Aroma boasts fresh piney hops and a nice caramel malty backing. Starts full and malty, turning thinner and more bitter toward a dry, crisp hoppy finish. The malt seems to lose the battle and doesn’t really put up much fight, just a little sweetness up front. Carbonation seems to be more airy than most beers and makes the beer feel too thin. Nice resiny grapefruit hop presence throughout though. A decent DIPA, just wish it were a touch thicker and sweeter. Thanks DarkElf!

courtesy of fiulijn - dark blond-orange colour with a persistent beige foam; nice lace; solidly hoppy with notes of flowers and cream; moderate carbonation and with a solid malt body; slightly sticky; very robust bitterness, long and very bitter flowery finish - a one-dimensional hop bomb
