Commercial Description:
Don’t be fooled by the label depicting a Grim Reaper Santa Claus in a sleigh pulled by skeletal reindeer - this is not a Christmas Ale. "Sleighor" is an Imperial India Pale Ale. The intense hop bitterness, flavor and aroma will dominate at first. To complement, the body has a complex blend of malt and alcohol flavors. The ABV is 9.1%, and the IBU’s are pushing the mid 80s. The entire family of Cascade hops is used. Cascade, Centennial and Columbus are spread throughout the boil, and a huge sack of Amarillo for dry hopping. The hop combination gives this brew a distinct profile true to its IPA roots. The presentation is clear copper with a thick tan head, coupled with billowing citrus and floral hop aroma. "Do You Dare" to enjoy this fine ale from the Reaper? Brewed at Sudwerk for ReaperAle.

Dark copper amber with some fizzy white head. Nose is all hops, some citrus, and a bit of malt. Taste is all hops, towards the bitter end of the spectrum. Very little malt or complexity, but still a solid and good tasting beer.

The beer emerges from the 22-ounce brown bottle a nubilous mahogany with a Bunyanesque semi-creamy light tan head that last for weeks before its dissolution, the residual lace an obfuscating sheet to encircle the glass. Nose is ornamented by the hop floral spiciness, the malt sweet, citrus like in its crispness, start is sweet with a pertinent malt profile and the top light to moderate in feel. Finish is stubbornly acidic and the hops militant in their presence with the aftertaste droughty and the bitterness long lasting on the palate, not a hop monster as I see-it, and it could use a bit more body but none-the-less a decent beer.

Pours a light ruby/golden color. Aroma is hoppy with a bit of candy sweetness. Some pine and citrus as well. Hoppy flavor, but not super hoppy. Alcohol is noticable, not alot but it is there. A bit of malt is present. Nice sipping beer. Nice bitter finish. Bomber.

Aroma is malt. Just kidding, but there is some malt nose. It’s grapefruity hop and a bit of resin. Ripe stone fruit color, pretty translucent, likely unfiltered. Not much head, but it laces in thin little lines. Starts with hop, quickly becoming grapefruity, but there’s enough malt to make a strong impact. However, no doubt about the finish; bitter all the way. Maybe some malt sticks through the finish, but it’s questionable.

The pour is a deep ruby color with a medium fading off beige head. Aroma is sweet and rich with hints of pineapple and citrus. Flavor starts burnt caramel sweet and fades into a rich sweetness that tames the tangy hop bitter finish. More barley wine like than IIPA (IMHO). 9% ABV very well hidden.

Tap @ Papago Brewing - Hazy orange, thin white creamy head. The smoke in this place was killing me, but I was able to get some nice sharp piney, earthy, apricot tones that mixed well with softer grapefruit and orange peel notes. Flavor was similar with deep earthy pine and citrus throughout, and a very faint hint of sweet malt in the end. Unbalanced for sure, but not a problem for a hophead to handle. Medium bodied, soft smooth carbonation, bitter finish. Very tasty D-IPA and perfect to go with the BBQ chicken pizza....
