Commercial Description:
Don't be fooled by the label depicting a Grim Reaper Santa Claus in a sleigh pulled by skeletal reindeer - this is not a Christmas Ale. "Sleighor" is an Imperial India Pale Ale. The intense hop bitterness, flavor and aroma will dominate at first. To complement, the body has a complex blend of malt and alcohol flavors. The ABV is 9.1%, and the IBU's are pushing the mid 80s. The entire family of Cascade hops is used. Cascade, Centennial and Columbus are spread throughout the boil, and a huge sack of Amarillo for dry hopping. The hop combination gives this brew a distinct profile true to its IPA roots. The presentation is clear copper with a thick tan head, coupled with billowing citrus and floral hop aroma. "Do You Dare" to enjoy this fine ale from the Reaper? Brewed at Sudwerk for ReaperAle.

Bottle shared at Cbus tasting 11. Smell was very piney and citrusy. Taste was the same with a hop kick I did not like. Favorite thing about this was having Moejuck explain to me in his teacher voice that it was SLEIGHOR not SLAYER...LOL...

From a 22 oz bottle this poured a rich copper color with a good sized off-white head and good lacing. Nose is of citrus and pine hops with caramel malts. Creamy mouthfeel. Favor is quite bitter and is of grapefruit and the finish is long and bitter. Overall pretty good.

This copper ale poured with a thick beige head and a floral aroma. It’s very hoppy with lots of citrus and pine lending a familiar northwest hophead aura. There is also a tasty caramel malt base that leaves a thick finish on one’s palate.

22 oz bottle. Pours a see through golden copper with a small light tan head that diminishes quickly. Fairly resin filled piney nose. The flavor is a huge continuation of the nose, very resiny and piney with a huge malt backing. These flavors do a tremendous job of thickly coating the pallet before flushing a deep citrus bitter end through the finish. 9.1% is not too detectable, but is hinted at. Nice work over all!

22 oz bottle

This was an over the top unbalanced imperial IPA. I’ve had it for a few months in the fridge. I don’t think that caused it to go off the rails so much. Other beers in the style seem to hold up well in the same conditions. Thanks to whomever bonused it. However unless the other Reaper Ales are brewed better I’m not going to revisit this brewery.

Aroma / Appearance - A billowing two finger head surged above a carbonated bronze body. Orange peels, lemon and pine blasted the dust out of my nose. Strongly hopped this was about as extreme as it can get. Somewhere in the debris field was a trace of maltiness.

Flavor / Palate - The bitterness overwhelms any other aspects of the flavor profile. It is strong enough that I even got tea dregs at one point. A one dimensional hop bomb I ended up leaving half the bottle alone. If I had another one I would just age it until it turned into a mellow barleywine. Perhaps then it would be more drinkable.
