3.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 flemmingwillum (811) - Nysted, DENMARK - DEC 8, 2006
UPDATED: DEC 13, 2009 Perfect appearance for a dunkel! The beer is completely opague red/brown and has an incredibly dense head in the precisely correct amount, and it lasts in a very long time. The aroma, however, is not very impressive. It has nice touches of caramel malts and sweetness in general, but is not very obvious. The flavor is very nice, with it’s obvious malty and sweet taste with notes of smoke, and a nice bitterness in the finish. The beer seems medium bodied the most of the time, but i can seem a little thin sometimes. However, this is still a very nice beer.

Bottled. A dark red-brown beer with a thick brown head. The aroma is sweet and very malty with notes of pumpernickle bread and caramel. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of caramel and malt, leading to a dry pumpernickle bread finish.

Bottle: Very deep ruby-amber colour with a smaller, almost creamy stable sandy head, deep fruity (dried dark berries) and coffeeish-roast-malty nose; robust bitter-sweet flavour, medium-bodied; lingering sweet-caramelly finish, rounde by some sweet-malty bitterness. Very good stuff.......
