Bottled. Near black in colour with a slight, off-white head. Big, black coffe and baileys aroma with some dark chocolate sweetness. Flavour had more of the same, with a dry finish. Good.

Looks really appetizing and has a smell that is out of this world. Then you taste it, and you just want to cry and go back to the bar and order something good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: APR 11, 2014 Bottle from the brewery shop. Recent batch brewed in the end of March 2014. AROMA lots of milk chocolate, vanilla notes APPEARANCE very dark brown, clear if you pour carefully, creamy tan head, small bubbles but dissipating to thin layer due to high ABV I guess TASTE sweet and chocolaty, light bitter finish, hints of vanilla PALATE full body, very light carbonation, long lasting chocolate layer stays all over your mouth This is a second time I try this stout. This batch is spotless. Brilliant brew, will be famous around the world. Well done!

Opaque dark brown beer, few tan bubbles for a head. Nose of rich chocolate cake! Palate is smooth and very slightly viscous. Very mild carbonation. Taste largely follows the snout and adds softish dark fruits. Semi dry finish. Rich chocolate cake beer!

Bottle from Appleyards Deli in Shrewsbury. Pours black with an impressive tan head. Very chocolate aroma. Taste very sharp and sweet at first and was quite unexpected. There’s a lot of citrusy sharpness in this that overrides the nice chocolate flavours. Really this was pretty horrible and I struggled to finish it. It’s possible that i got a bad bottle, but it wasn’t cheap, so I won’t be trying again to find out.

Cask Half Pint at White Horse Old Ale Festival 2013, Parsons Green, London in Nov 2013 - Apparently this is a "Chocolate Vanilla Stout". Very Dark Brown in colour; almost Black. Mega Chocolate Malty; choc, choc and more choc and lots of vanilla, very coffee, biscuity malts. Spicy. No detectable hops. Sweet very chocolate malty throughout. I liked it. Nice dessert stout!

Gravity dispense at the White Horse winter ales fest, 22/11/13. Mid black with a thin tan covering that retains well. Nose is toffee fudge, cocoa, light booze, slightly lactic tang. Taste comprises tangy dark fruit, light metallic nip, cocoa, spice, lactic tang, rich chocolate melt. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying closure with light spicing. Ok impy but lower down the order for the style.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 22 Nov 2013) Black colour with frothy, pale brown head. Malty nose with lots of chocolate and cocoa, notes of vanilla. Malty, roasted taste with dark chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, coffee and a slightly citric bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Hardly balanced, but very tasty with loads of chocolate and cocoa. Nice one.

Cask at White Horse Old Ale fest 2013, Parsons Green, London. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Sweet, chocolate aroma. Tastes of rich chocolate, slightly sweet, hint of vanilla. Delicious Imperial Stout.

Bottle at the Famous Royal Navy Volunteer, Bristol. Pours a very dark brown colour with a small beige colour head. Aroma of sweet chocolate, cocoa, and cola. Something of a spicy fiery kick to it, to go with the sweetness. Medium-full body and minimal carbonation. Interesting, a beer that divided opinion among those I was with.

Bottle from Teign Cellars. Sweet, sweet vanilla nose with tons of chocolatey backdrop. Pours a luscious brown with no head to speak of. Flavour is like someone melted a coffee-choc magnum ice cream down and poured it into a glass. Sweet, vanilla, chocolate, biscuit, honey, more vanilla, more chocolate - is there some alcohol in here? Well, yes: according to the label there’s quite a lot. But you wouldn’t know it. Too sweet and cloying for my taste but done well and a nigh-on perfect after dinner beer. Ther dessert wine of craft brewing.
