Bottled. Near black in colour with a slight, off-white head. Big, black coffe and baileys aroma with some dark chocolate sweetness. Flavour had more of the same, with a dry finish. Good.

Bottle from Stein’s deli, Padstow. Boozy vanilla chocolate. Very sweet roasty tang. No head. High carbonation however. Big vanilla afterglow. Milk chocolate. Too sweet for me.

Bottle. Appearance- black, with a slight brown tinge when held to the light. Light brown head of one finger which persists. Aroma- vanilla, milk chocolate, cocoa, liquorice hints, a bit of coffee. Taste- chocolate, some dark fruits in the background, blackjack sweets, vanilla, cocoa bitterness, fudge, hints of almond. Chocolatey finish. Quite good.

330ml bottle drunk at home, three days before the Best Before date. Starts promisingly enough with a chocolate / vanilla sponge aroma but taste presents a distinct sour vinegar flavour. Clearly infected. Shame as I was looking forward to this.

Bottle from Ales by Mail. Pours very dark brown with a big tanned head, which disappears fast. Very inviting aroma of moisty chocolate cake, prunes and deep rich malts. Smooth and light thick mouthfeel, fluid chocolate, like mr Wonka would have loved it, some weak hops at the light dry finish, super medication for a sweet tooth.

Bottle. Very dark with a large beige head. Aromas are chocolate and balsamic vinegar with dark berries and raisins. Milkshake with soy and nutty marzipan. Boozy with spices. Flavours are sweet chocolate with dark chocolate bitterness. Cola with marzipan and sticky toffee. Nutty with gritty cocoa and rich berries. Peppery, warming alcohol on the finish. Pretty good.

Bottle, cheers Moby. Bit bloody steep at £4.50. Poured black with pretty much no head. Aroma is pretty good, nice vanilla notes, some sweet chocolate, hints of coffee. Flavour is chocolate, vanilla, metal, herbs, a little dry. Not bad.
