COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Penryn Pale Ale is our take on a classic IPA. it has a fruity and hoppy nose with hints of peach and lemongrass, leaving a nice mellow bitterness on the tongue.

allmyvinyl (2793) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUN 20, 2014
500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours clear amber, thin off-white head. Aromas of light citrus, pine, resin, caramel. Taste is slightly chalky, more hop bitterness and quite well rounded out by sweet tastes. Pretty good.

Idiosynkrasie (3578) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JUN 4, 2014
500ml bottle. Minimally cloudy, orangey golden colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, barely white head. Cautious fruity hoppy aroma, subtle hints of peach, a touch of gooseberry, caramel malty background lends sweet-ish fruitiness support. Taste is bitter hoppy with a mineral touch, hints of gooseberry, a touch of bitter orange, slightly biscuity caramel malty basis. Presumably matching the historic IPA flavour profile, definitely making me rebellious concerning the Bitter rubric. If we divide Session IPAs from regular IPAs (and APAs), I have certain difficulties with the concordance of English IPAs and Bitters.

lusikka (5934) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAY 28, 2014
500 ml bottle. Pours a copper colour with a white foamy head. Aroma of biscuit, some sweet fruity notes and grass. Flavour of biscuity malts, grass, mild peach juice sweetness, grassy bitterness and some harsh grainy notes. Light bodied and high-ish carbonation. Sweet, harsh, grainy finish. Harsh.

50 cl bottle.
Pours clear amber color with a large head. Aroma of pine, hops, caramel, malts and hay, some fruity notes also. Very bitter palate with citric fruits, mandarin, caramel malts, piney notes, gooseberries and faint nutty notes on the aftertaste. Refreshing and quite balanced. Nice at first but gets a bit too bready and dry for my taste towards the end.

BlackHaddock (3479) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 29, 2014
Shared bottle at the fourth Shrewsbury bottle swap on 28th April 2014. I got a quarter of the 500ml. Cloudy amber body that had plenty of life, almost fizzy actually. Fruity aroma, a veritable basket of different fruits, some sweet, some citrusy sour, the taste mirrored the smells a real fruit bowl of a flavour. Pity about the over carbonation, a smoother, creamier body would have been nicer. Overall a semi-sweet fruity brew with enough bitterness to just about make it interesting.

Theydon_Bois (7898) - The Sham, Surrey, ENGLAND - FEB 23, 2014
Bottle, from Hogsback brewery shop, at JFs house decoration bash, 22/02/14. Hazed orange amber with a good sized off white head that retains well. Nose is bitter orange, toasted bread, straw, apricot jam. Taste comprises bread dough, orange marmalade, earthy hop in the background, bitter citrics. Medium bodied, light prickly carbonation - a little over cooked in this respect, semi drying close. Nose sure Id have this as a bitter, more golden blonde Id say.

Bottle. Hazy gold with a large foam. Aromas are grain with peach and apple. Leafy with yeast. Flavours are light bittersweet grapefruit with lemon and apricot. Some sudsy aspects. Wheat with mellow oranges and a dry finish. A better beer from this brewery.

500ml bottle as a gift. Was dreading opening this due to mixed reports from fellow beer geeks, but this isnt too bad at all. A crisp fresh pale with a nice bitterness and soothing lemon citrus. Nice artwork as always too.

Martinus (2739) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - JAN 20, 2014
Hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of hops, malts, marmelade, floral notes, citrus. Hoppy flavour, straw, lemon zest, light bitter. Finish straw, malts, light biscuit. Nice!
(From 50cL bottle @ the pre-RBBWG get-together at Tims place. Thanks for sharing, Tim!!)

17/I/14 - 50cl bottle from Diesters Bierfestival @ home - BB: 15/XI/13 (2014-48)

Note: only got my hands on the bottle around Christmas, so the 3 weeks extra wont have made the difference I guess.
Little hazy dark orange beer, irregular small creamy head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: very fruity, pineapple, citrus, passion fruit, bit grassy, hint of (malt) sweetness. MF: soft carbon, medium body, creamy texture. Taste: citrus fruits, passion fruit, mango, nice piny bitterness, little sweet, some honey. Aftertaste: sweet, mango, peaches, citrus, lots of pineapple, some passion fruit again, bit piny, malty sweet ending. Lovely beer!
