3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask (gravity dispense) at Egham Beer Festival on 21 April 2011. Rebellion generally tends to produce rather malty beers in a distinctly traditional style so, for A Royal Wedding special, I was expecting more of the same. Fortunately (in my view at least), that was not the case. There are hops here. Lots of hops. Flowery, aromatic ones with plenty of grapefruity citrus on the palate. Maybe a whiff of smoky sulphur on the nose but it wasn’t in any way off-putting. Bright gingery colour. Good, lively condition. A top notch beer and a very pleasant surprise.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Gravity cask at the Bree Louise. Clear gold with a slight, filmy head. Aroma is full of fresh hops, floral and piney. Great flavor, light caramel, plenty of pine, some grapefruit and grass. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sticky hop finish, resinous, grassy, easy malt backbone. Superb.
