Cask (Three Horseshoes, Marlow)
Sweet fruity aroma, rich and uplifting. Looks like a classic dark bitter, with a small tight head. A super full fruity body - very rich roasty taste. Finish is rich and again packed with roasty malts. Late finish lets the hops shine a bit more - they’re very fruity. Classic bitter.

Cask (handpump) at the Three Horseshoes, Marlow Bottom. Although quite dark and full bodied for a session bitter, this didn’t really stand up to comparison with the Rebellion Roasted Nuts sampled alongside it. Deep copper colour. Not much aroma, although some soft toffee notes developed as the beer warmed. Sweetish initial impact, but dry malt comes through strongly and, by the finish, there’s a very desiccated mouthfeel. Some licorice on the palate. Not too bitter. The overall emphasis is on the malt, but there was no great depth of flavour so I thought it came over a bit wishy-washy in the flavour department. But, as I said before, that could have been because I was drinking it alongside a much more fully flavoured beer.

A Mes rate: Cask at Quinns
Dark coloured bitter with lots of malt and some sweet fruity notes. Very bland and boring.
