Aarleks (402), Sydney, Australia May 16, 2008 Bottle: This is the type of beer that indicates the rise in standard s of crafting and flavour happening at present in the Australian beer industry. A solid pilsner; crystal clear with a tight white head. Strong decocted doughy grain aromas under a slightly citric floral chord. Quite nice! In the mouth is is round and juicy and leaves you satisfied but ready for more. Light, slightly bready malt is quickly followed by a brief, almost cascade-like hop burst before it all trails off to a floral after taste. Very pleasant.
ALLOVATE (1127), Perth, Australia Sep 26, 2008 From notes alone. Tasted October ’07. ’Appears a hazy, lemony yellow with tight, fine, streaming carbonation. No head to speak of - a little of a disappointment. Toasted malt and nut/caramel slice nose with a mild hint of chamomile and lemon grass, late gift of burnt pine nuts. Gritty, meaty, robust, sweet and full palate. Notes of classic Pils malt offers a base, layered with flavours of fresh baked white bread, wheat grain, honey and moist Anzac biscuits. The hops are zesty, very spicy and peppery, and blend well with the assertive malt flavours to offer a sweet/sour, gritty, grainy swallow that lingers long and settles in deep. The carbonation - well suited - is mild, spritzy, making the palate firm yet wanton of another pint after finishing. Very sessionable stuff, complex enough to grant quiet contemplation after each sip. Very nice!!!’ (345ml, 14/06/08, The Beer Store Morley) madquacker (505), Canberra ACT, Australia Aug 26, 2008 Looks like a pils and has the salt I like in a pils. CItrus is the first thing noticeable and floral notes. Could do with a bit more substance but is one of the better Australian pilsners. Recommended. Chrism86 (89), Melbourne, Australia Jul 18, 2008 Hmm... dont really know what went wrong here. Appearance is more or less bang on for a pils but head was non existent. Nose displays trademark floral saaz hops. Palate is exceptionally thin, just seems to dissapear. Starts out with some floral hop presence and malt, then finishes...no hop bitterness, no length...just nothing...confused Muggus69 (232), Sydney, Australia Jul 13, 2008 345ml bottle served chilled. Bready grainy malt on the nose, prominant Saaz spicy hopiness, touch of apple fruitiness. Clean pale gold body with medium sized white foam. Moderate carbonation, slight soapiness, fullish body, reasonably bitter and dry finish. Grassy hop spice on the body, bit of background grainy malt and slightly off breadiness. Reasonably nice and well made, if not unremarkable pils. Unholy_Brewing (311), Melbourne, Australia Jun 9, 2008 ...bottle. Hops on the nose, dry finish. Malty, but not that great. Has a weird taste, but not necessarily bad. Slightly floral notes, and a malty complexity make it drinkable.
