Fire Barrel Cider renews the homestead tradition of making cider in used bourbon barrels. Fire charred Kentucky white oak barrels could be used only once form their intended purpose. When empty, our opportunistic forefathers filled them with juice from their apple harvest to ferment and age. Made from traditional bittersweet apples, this full-flavored cider is mellowed by that same charred wood resulting in smooth and complex fruit aromas and flavors with notes of caramel and vanilla. We invite you to experience the way those old homesteaders enjoyed their apples.

Pours copper with some sparse carbonation. Smells of sweet apples, vanilla, some underlying booziness. Tastes of tarte apples, touches of oak, full bodied finish. Enjoyable.

Clear dark golden color/ fleeting white head. Very nice yeasty, earthy yellow apple aromas. Medium bodied with light co2. Semi dry flavors of ripe golden apples, mild piss, dry hay, with some vanilla sweetness to finish--good.

Sampled at Pikes in Seattle, lagery in appearance. Aroma completely unique. It is like apples in your grandma’s closet. Hints of barnyard. Way interesting. Flavors are tart and sticky sweet, with a peppery spice and sharp carbonated bitter finish. Intriguing.

Draft at Pike Brewing Co. (Seattle, WA). Poured a clear golden yellow color with a thin white head. The aroma had nice oak notes to it. The flavor included cider, oak, vanilla, and caramel. A nice and flavorful cider with a tasty dry finish.

A nice tart apple aroma. The flavor is similar. Sweet and tart but so much as to give the brain pause. Okay stuff.

On tap at Pike in Seattle. The description sounded really nice. Clear dark gold in color. Aroma of apples, wood and a hint of bourbon. Flavor was of sweet apple with some wood, vanilla and bourbon. Pretty tasty stuff here.

Bottle, thanks Bob! Really strange, neon, 80’s label. I thought something involving a barn and making cider would be a little more rustic. Aroma is a weird charred mess, some pleasant dry apple tones in there. Really dry flavor, slight charred bourbon on the finish. I don’t like that charred quality. Good white-wine notes in there, I like the winey, dry finish. Interesting.
