5/13/13. 12oz bottle from... I actually can’t remember where from, which is weird. Hazy brown pour with a small, soapy tan head that doesn’t last. Big bourbon barrel, not too subtle or appetizing, with touches of caramel. The flavor follows suit... not impressed, as usual with these guys. I’m mostly confused as to how this ended up in my fridge. I’m thinking maybe I got it while in Destin? Oh well, what do you care?

12oz bottle, shared with b3shine. Hazy dark red orange brown color. Lots of yeast particles in the body. Thin off-white head. Little loose dots of lace. Big vanilla and bourbon in the aroma. Some dark fruit, little caramel malt. Bigger body. Softer, lighter carbonation. Light stickiness in the finish. Long vanilla bourbon malty aftertaste. Lighter hops, just a light earthy hop note, little peat. Mostly get that big woody bourbon aftertaste. Sweeter taste overall. A bit of a boozy bite in the finish. I like the big woody bourbon character, which dominates this brew. It’s kind of powerful though, I’m glad I shared this 12oz’er. I wouldn’t want any more or less than the 6 oz I had.

Bottle to taster (thanks DrSilverworm). Looks solid, but would look hood without the floaties; a cloudy brown with off-white lacing. Smells of heavy bourbon and some caramel malt (at least I think there’s some in there). Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Solid, but a bit too bourbon-forward.

12 oz. bottle from Garmonbozia. Thanks again! It pours a deep orange/brown color with a khaki head. A bit muddy. The aroma is huge, sweet bourbon caramel, vanilla, maple syrup and some dark fruit in the background. Bourbon and maple syrup dominate. The flavor is dark fruit candy and tons of bourbon. A bit cloying. It leaves a bit of phenolic plastic on the palate, but only a faint hint. The rest of the flavor is alcohol and raisins. I actually would have liked a little more of the maple syrup richness that I got in the aroma, but it’s disappeared. Overall, not a bad bourbon aged ale. A bit overdone though.

Bottle from mixmasterob. Pours slightly ruddy light brown. Aroma is roasty with med dark fruit. And toffee? Med body. Flavor is toffee, med dark fruit, and it develops a lot of bourbon/vanilla. Finishes decently bitter and tasty.

Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours orange copper with a thin beige head and a sour oak and molasses aroma. There is a nice caramel malt flavor with lots of oak. Very tasty and complex.

Smoothe. Nice frothy head. Vanilla and bourbon notes that hide the alcahol well. I really don’t care for the sediment floating throughout the beer. I’m not sure it’s meant to be like that?

Sample FOBAB ’12 - Pours murky brown - relatively thick brown head. Aroma is pretty intense bourbon, some vanilla, general sweet feel to things. Flavor is also sweet, stops short of cloying, but wow is this sweet - I actually kind of like it - lots of bourbon, vanilla...I noted how some folks compare this to a whiskey/coke, and although I wouldn’t go that far, I see where they’re coming from. Palate is somewhat thick and soothing - an easy drinker if not a bit sticky. I would say I enjoyed this one, though I don’t know how much of it I could drink in one sitting...
