COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
20th Anniversary, Brick Mason Series #7, is an Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels. We are celebrating our milestone anniversary with a milestone beer that will be the strongest beer in brewery’s history. Rich chocolate and roasted flavors are balanced by sweet caramel malts. Bourbon barrels provide big bourbon notes supported by flavors of oak and vanilla. This beer commemorates Red Brick Brewing Company’s 20 year brewing tradition. And while we’re focused on the future, we’ll never forget our humble beginnings.

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2014 Not my favorite RB Anniversary beer, but not bad. A bit of an ashy/charcoaly character keeps this down imo. Some nice fruity notes in the finish. Bourbon barrels land a lightly woody character, not a ton of bourbon in the nose.

From 12oz bottle Pours almost balks with just a touch of tan head. Chocolate malt aroma. Ditto on the taste, with a bit of bourbon on the aftertaste. Chocolate comes out clearer in the aftertaste, too. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured black. nose is bourbon, toasted oak, caramels and roasted coffee. Flavor is similar but the bourbon comes through a little on the heavy side. full body and slightly acrid.

Poured from 12 oz bottle. Pours black with creamy tan head. Aroma is burnt wood and some stale coffee. There is no barrel in this at all. Taste follows nose with lots of char and no bourbon barrel.

Bottle from Total Wine in Stuart. Pours a very, very dark brown with a brown head leaving little lacing. Aroma has milk chocolate, caramel and vanilla. Taste is of sweet vanilla, bittersweet chocolate, lotta roast with caramelly malts, some bourbon and some molasses. Smooth and tasty with very low carbonation. Medium to full bodied. Finishes to the alcoholly, lightly sweet side of bittersweet with some length. Very bourbon-y at the end. Nice solid tasty barrel aged brew!

12oz bottle. This had been sitting in my fridge for almost 5 months. It was time to finally open it. Poured a motor-oil color, like the consistency of my oil in this 10 degree weather we’re having here right now. Aroma is sweet bitter chocolates, some light bourbon notes. Flavor began as some real bitter, burnt chocolate notes, but settled as it warmed to a nice bitter +90% dark chocolate. Very smooth and the alcohol is really well masked for what it is. Quite a tasty brew.

12oz bottle, thanks to voodoofish65usf. Black color. Nice thin brown head. Leaves plenty, thick lace, good ropes and mountains. Good, big chewy body. Slick texture. Smooth, lightly creamy carbonation. More dry in the finish. Great bigger bitter taste, light sweet. Much less sweet than expected, I appreciate that. Just a very light bite in the finish - pretty reasonably easy drinking, and tasty. Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla. Some oak. Good cocoa. Tasty, enjoyable bourbon barrel aged imperial stout.

Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of dark bread, cereal, toasted, nutty and dark chocolate, light resin and earth for the hops and yeast with notes of dried black fig and vanilla in the background. Head is tiny, wispy, brown with very spotty lacing and good legs and diminishes to a small ring around the glass. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then the long finish is lightly to moderately bittersweet. Palate is medium to full, between creamy and syrupy, has a soft carbonation and finishes chalky and moderately alcoholic. Nice smooth and creamy aspects to this deep, dark Imperial Stout.

Bottle -thanks Sean! Pours opaque black, small creamy brown head, dissipates leaving good lacing. Aroma is roasty, bourbon, chocolate, vanila. Flavor is light sweet, light bitter, a bit of anise and ashtray, bourbon and roasty notes, some woody astringence present, and almost coffee acidity. Finish is bourbon and bitter. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. Nice effort, but not a star.
