Red Brick Brewing (Atlanta) is renaming their Brown Ale to A-Town Brown. This awesome new artwork by Jert goes along with the name change. Red Brick is Atlanta’s oldest craft brewery, with Brown Ale being the first beer produced back in 1993. Those not in Atlanta, the label depicts some iconic Atlanta things/buildings. MARTA the nearly inefficient mass transit train, the capitol building, the iconic Hyatt Hotel, Sundial Restaurant, Hank Aaron’s 715, and more.

Bottle. Pours in clear copper body with low white head. Aroma has caramel, light grassiness, biscuit. Taste has high burned caramel toffee sweetness, bitterness is on the light side, coming up in the after taste. When it warms up, the caramel is more intensive in the aroma. Body is medium to full, medium carbonation.

Served in a pint glass at the brewery. A: hazy brown body with a decent off-white head that had moderate retention but left some sticky patterned lacing on the glass. Feel: Soft, near medium carbonation. Medium body. Aroma: Herbal, floral and mildly hoppy with a biscuit base. Taste: Average hops for (American) style. Bitter and sweet and almost equal balance. Well crafted but lacks complexity. O: on style and modestly above average.

Dark brown pour with a long lasting tan head. Aroma is of hazlenut and roasted malts. Slightly syrupy sweet flavor, with a lingering toasty/woodsy malt backbone. Body is nice and creamy. Maybe just a bit too artificially sweet, but it’s tasty.

Didn’t love the aroma on this one. Kinda smells like coffee breath. Clear, medium to slightly dark brown. Bad label. Looks like Atlanta is shooting me the bird. Roasted, lightly sweet, lightly astringent. Lightish body. Roast finish. Meh. ABC Liquors, Betton.

nearbeer (4053) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - AUG 24, 2014
12 oz. bottled 08-04-14. Clear red-copper with a lasting film of bubbles. Nose is earthy cocoa, toffee and a touch of red pepper. Tastes of lightly sweet cocoa, toffee, toast, raisin, a bit of sour cream and a touch of peppery wooden hop. Near-medium body is smooth with low-medium carbonation and eventually develops a great sessionable balance.

Reddish brown, thin beige head. Smells like brown sugar and molasses, plus some pine. Taste is sweet, but not overly sweet. Plenty of malty sweetness, and enough hops to keep it interesting. Not bad.
