UPDATED: FEB 9, 2011 This beer come in my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy red-brown color with a medium sized tan head that lingered forever and produced great lacing. The aroma was malty with notes of cocoa and light vague fruits. The flavor was bitter, tangy, roasty and lightly fruity with a touch of chocolate and a light vegetal undertone. Decent.

Bottle pours a clear chestnut body with small beige head. Soft aroma of milk chocolate and orange hops. Taste is bready with brown sugar sweetness and earthy hop bitterness. Not a bad brown ale.

UPDATED: JUL 19, 2011 The aroma is sweet and malty with chocolate, caramel, and hops. The appearance is deep amber with an average but nice head. The flavor is malty with some chocolate and caramel but it is hurt by astringent and soapy hops. The palate is typical for the style. Overall it’s decent and drinkable but not something I want often.

Aroma is fairly strong, malty and yeasty with a hint of molasses. It pours a clear cola brown with a thick, fine-bubbled, pale yellow-tan head that sticks around. Flavor is mainly malty and has a bit of a yeasty tang to it, hints of molasses and caramel. Texture is smooth and just a little on the watery side, but it is still fairly drinkable.

Not terrrible, but nothing great either. A thin looking brown body with a nice bone or beige head that had some lacing. Aroma was of mild nutty notes, flavor was subtle sweet, some mild cocoa notes, but mainly a nutty note and a little hoppy. Finish was smooth yet watered down.

12 oz bottle. A nice brown. Nothing spectacular. Good for the style. I liked it for sure.

I’d say this is just about average maybe a bit higher right down the line. Good looking pour, brown with no head. Aroma and flavor of malt with a bit of hop finish. Not bad but nothing special.

Deep brown color...extremely fluffy head. Pretty subtle malt aroma. Powerful front, with a few notes of caramel and pecans...mouthfeel has just a hint of crispness. Strong hop bitterness swoops into the back, leaving a bold bitter finish. A very upfront beer for the style...a tad unusual, though pretty good.
