Pours a deep dark mahogany amber color with dark golden ruby edges when held to a light source and a two finger light beige head with decent retention, only slowly fading into a lasting ring. Sporadic chunks of lacing left behind. Not as dark as I would expect for a brown ale.
Slightly roasted aroma with a nice amount of toasty caramel malt along with hints of hazelnut, slight hops, spice and subtle earthy notes. Possibly some cinnamon and brown sugar.
Medium bodied with soft carbonation up front along with subtle roasted malts, earthy hops, peppery spice and a dry finish. Strong caramel malt presence along with some cinnamon and brow sugar, bready yeast and a slightly odd alcohol astringency that produces a sort of metallic aftertaste.
