2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle thanks to drowland, pours a murky brown, kind of like very dirty water, doesn’t look all that great to be honest, aroma is sweet with some notes of caramel with a nutty touch, the flavor is pretty bland and boring over all, but has a hint of caramel in the finish, meh.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a dirty brown body, creamy head and all. Aromas were nutty and malty with a touch of caramel. Tasted of stale hops with a nice malty undertone. Finished smooth and nutty - very drinkable but too light overall for a brown.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Poured a clear dark orange-mahogany color. The head was fizzy and tan. It reduced over a minute or two to a lasting thin film. Light fruity nose, with whiffs of pear and subdued brown sugar. Light to medium bodied and a bit over-carbonated. Toffee, fleshy fruit, and mineral water flavors.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
12oz bottle. Very light brown color, maybe even a little red. Aroma isn’t that pungent but has a slight creaminess to it. Flavor is slightly nutty, but there isn’t much going on. On all facets, this brown ale really didn’t live up to it’s title. The color, flavor, aroma aren’t really that strong.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hotel bar tick. Local brown ale seemed the best available option, and it turned out to be considerably better than the Sweetwater I’d recently tried. Toasted malts and a bit of wood and vanilla in the nose, balanced and not overly confectionary. Body was more robust than the slightly underwhelming appearance, with a fullness to it that surprised. Slight hints of dry hops, char, and chickory in the taste, pretty balanced and enjoyable overall.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
This comes from a 12-ounce bottle labeled “Red Brick Brown,” a bit strange. The color is beautiful, a toffee-amber that’s quite lovely. The beer tastes of hops and resin that’s strongly reminiscent of cider – another rater (Rustyham) said “linseed oil” and that’s not wrong either. Malty enough but not sweet in this sample – in fact, lightly bitter clean through. Went alright with food. Thanks to Brian Bearden for the Christmas gift.
