3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 KajII (340) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - APR 18, 2010
UPDATED: AUG 2, 2011 Bottle. The pour was a hazy brown in color with a small creamy off white head that had great retention and produced some excellent lacing that stuck to the glass throughout.
The aroma had a moderate scent of roasted chocolate malts, a light flowery hop and a nice sweet leathery yeast with notes of caramel, coffee and milk chocolate.
It tasted exquisite, with all the flavors blending around the tongue in just the right way. At first it was sweet yet ever so slightly bitter with a note of coffee, and just a hint of sweet yeast. It finished with a nice bitter-sweet flavor that had a ever so light hint of chocolate at the end with the flavor lasting a nice long while on the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was thick and creamy in texture and medium in body with a nice mild carbonation.
Overall an exceptional brew for its style, one that has the flavors working perfectly together giving you a fantastic drinking experience.

The first thing that got me about this brew was it’s color and appearance. Cloudy amber with a small off white head. Tingly on the tongue. Nice hoppy taste.

Bottle. Pours a dark copper with a medium off-white head. Aroma is mildly malty, with some chocolate notes. Flavor profile is typical of a brown ale: strongly malty with some chocolate, nuts, caramel. Slightly sweet with a dry hoppy finish.

The brown ale has soft tones of coffee and dark chocolate. best out of a keg... but what isn’t.

Darker than pale yellow lager. A little more brown, per se. First taste is a little hoppy but mostly malty. Smell is a little sweet like candy, perhaps a heller hint. Good carbonation. Seems to be a tad too malty, nearly bitter on the finish.

From a bottle poured brown with a small amount of head. Nice light malty flavor with a bitter lasting finish.

Moderate aroma of caramel and toast, with a hint of alcohol.
Pours a copper orange with little head and lacing.
A rather sweet taste without being overwhelming.
A medium body with little carbonation and a somewhat filmy texture. Lightly bitter at the end with just a touch of citrusy hops.
Very nice beer. But maybe not a true representation of a Brown Ale. I would liken this beer to a hybrid of Brown Ale and a Scotch Ale. I would definitely buy this again.
