Pours an orangey dark brown with a frothy white head on top. Has a coppery aftertaste. A decent beer, not my favorite in the brown ale catagory but a decent offering from a smaller brewery.

From tap at Taco Mac. Pours cloudy dark brown with a deep orange glare and a creamy off white head. Aroma is fruity and roasted malty. Mild fruity, toasted and caramelish. Bitter and toasted malty finish.

Not my favorite brown ale. Coppery, mildly sweet, not the best aftertaste.

My bottle says Red Brick Brown Ale, but the brewer apparently calls it different names. Nice color and pour, but too much sweetness for a brown ale. Nothing outstanding to speak of but an average brown ale overall.

The brown ale style is what got me into craft beer and while it’s not one of my favorites anymore, I can still appreciate a good one whenever I get the chance. Unfortunately, Red Brick Brown Ale is not one I would offer up as an example of the style. It might work on a basic level as simply as transitional beer, but nothing more than that.

I received a 12oz bottle in a trade with Ding (thanks!). I poured it into a nonic pint glass.

Appearance: Deep chestnut colored body, opaque. Forms a huge, off white, foamy head that is slow to dissipate and leaves fluffy lacing around the glass.

Smell: Mild aroma of generic sweet maltiness. A hint of apple juice. Otherwise unremarkable.

Taste: Let me disclaim this review by stating that the bottle I drank was likely old and expired. The date stamped on the label is difficult to read, but appears to be at least five months old judging from the bottling date. Anyway, I’m usually a fan of brown ales, whether they be American or British, but Red Brick Brown Ale doesn’t seem to conform to either style. I’m not sure how to classify it per se, more of just a generic dark ale with a hint of apple flavor to it. Nothing much in the way of nuts, caramel or toffee.

The only distinct flavor I can really pull out is a slight apple juice or even apple cider taste. This could be a sign of acetaldehyde or just what happens when this beer gets old. It’s not particularly bad, in fact there’s mild sweetness throughout, and I would describe this palate as being mild and drinker-friendly. But mostly it’s just a boring beer, even compared to Newcastle Brown Ale.

Drinkability: When I poured Red Brick Brown Ale it generated a gigantic head which lead me to believe it was going to be a spastic brew and a challenge to drink. It was actually the opposite: more on the tepid side with a clean, slightly refreshing body with minimal aftertaste. I’m a little shocked to learn it’s 6% ABV as it does not seem to have the weight or robustness of something that big.

No much on style, but a nice flavor. A thick creamy, light brown head. Limited aroma with a cloudy brown coloring. Nice balanced taste and palate.

Bottled as Red Brick Brown. Pours a nice copper with a finger of head, quickly dissipating. Aroma is caramel and raisin. Taste is the same - reminds me of Oatmeal Raisin Bran cereal, honestly. Unpleasantly copper taste on the finish; not a hoppy bitterness, just a metallic component to the flavor. Gets a little sweeter as it warms up. Metal on the palate too, and a little to light-bodied. This is the first Red Brick I’ve tried; don’t know that I’d give them a second chance based on it.

Not a bad brown. Nice bit of heat from the EtOH in the aftertaste. Caramel, roasted malts, not too sweet or bitter.

pours a clear copper with a large dirty white head, above average carbonation, and some lacing. smell is of brown sugar, caramel, spice, and some nuts. taste is of caramel, spice, nuts, some hops, and malt in the back. ends slightly bitter and long lasting spice.

Poured a med dark brown with a thin dissipating white head. Nose of tosted and hay malt. Big taste of toasted malt with a touch of sweet. Med bodied with a slight lingerer of that same toasted malt. Over all not a bad beer to drink on a fall night but nothing to write home about.
