Pour is dark copper, a bit murky with a small amount of tan head. Nose is tons of sticky caramel and a bit of brown sugar, a decent bit of rich maltiness, light bourbon notes and a hint of wood. Taste is a bit sweet, the rich malts depth isnít quite there, a good bit of caramel and more brown sugar, slightly cooked, flavor thins towards the back. Bourbon comes in on the finish, soft, full bodied and moderate carbonation and a bit of lingering booziness.

12 ounce bottle from Ale Yeah. This is a big caramel brown sugar bomb. Sweet and boozy. Sugar overtakes any trace of bourbon. Needs more balance.

Bottle thanks to Dmac. Pours out a lightly reddish to dark brown color with no real head to speak of. Aroma is of burnt wood, cigar humidor, caramel, peat moss, and some light sweetness. Taste is caramel, light toffee, burnt wood, maduro cigar, earth, soil, vanilla and some mild lingering alcohol on the finish. Interesting.

Good beer that I had hoped was going to be a great beer. Pours nearly clear on the lighter side of dark brown with minimal head. Scent is booze and bourbon. The flavor is a bit skewed towards bourbon and booze. A touch thin for style. Bottle - Ale Yeah! - Decatur, GA

Bottle given to me by RBís Scotchzi. Poured into a snifter. Deep reddish brown with a fingerís worth of tan head that faded into a thick collar and good amount of wisps. Good lacing. Aroma is molasses, sweet nuts (pecan or hazelnut) and toffee. Light body and low carbonation, but a sticky mouthfeel. Taste is much like the aroma: toffee and nutty with lots of grainy sweetness. I typically donít like Red Brick, but this is one of their best IMHO.

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
There is strong aroma of caramel, biscuit, and molasses. It is a deep amber brown color with almost no head to speak of. There is a strong taste that resembles molasses, malted flavors, with a strong bitter sting at the end. Itís a little more lively with the carbonation than most barley wines Iíve had, but overall itís good.
