COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black-Eye Rye is an American-style India Black Ale brewed with rye. Inspired by the popularity of this unique and interesting style, it pours midnight black and features a fluffy cappuccino colored head. Donít let the dark color fool you though, because this is Red Brickís hoppiest beer yet! The aroma features complex tropical fruit notes of mango and peach intermingling with classic citrus and pine, as well as a slight hint of cocoa. The flavor is resinous and piney, complimented by a velvety mouth-feel, and finishes with lingering notes of grapefruit and bittersweet chocolate. Itís sure to keep you coming back round after round!

Black pour. Small tan head. Little bit of lacing. Big citrusy hops and a peppery malt aroma. Danny hop flavor with a nice malt backbone. Very nice beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle poured into a small glass. I guess you canít quite call it a "black IPA," but itís pretty close and, if it was, this would be my new favorite black IPA. Thick, hearty, but not filling. Hops make up a wonderful flavor profile, but donít overwhelm anything. You can taste the roasted malts, but itís not "roasty." Really well done. Good to see something this good from Red Brick. I knew they had it in them.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a jet black color with a medium beige head. A really nice aroma of rye and spicy hops. Reminds me of Dubhe a bit. The flavor is great: charred wood, smoke, rye, tropical fruit, light bitterness. Big milky chocolates. Very smooth and tasty.

I like this one. Nice fresh dank hops are the first aroma and they meld well with the bittersweet chocolate that takes over in the flavor.

Hints of bittersweet chocolate make this black IPA palatable. Would make a better beer to cook with than drink.

Roasty, creamy, and dark, yet hoppy with floral and citrus notes. Has flavors of coffee, chocolate, and grapefruit, which might not marry as well as I would hope, but is still a uniquely complex beer that is still enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

5/21/13. 12oz bottle thanks to a rep! Dark brown pour, almost black, with a small tan head. Dank hops and a touch of roast on the nose, some soft wheat, and a tiny bready rye spice kick. Nice roasted malt flavor, some coffee and dryness, dank hops, light bitterness, and lingering coffee/roast. Tasty enough!

Strong aroma - it just about follows me around the room - is quite rye-ish, with firm earthy and hoppy notes and hints of fresh-baked pumpernickel bread (I love pumpernickel BTW!) and regular barley malt. Comes out of the growler a slightly reddish dark chocolate brown with a thick and rather persistent dirty tan head. Flavor is - superb. Mouth-filling. Sublime. Frigginí delish. Smoky, hoppy, scarcely bitter, hints of licorice, molasses, even a little sour orange and semi-sweet chocolate. Could this get any better? Scarcely. Thick, smooth texture has lively fizz that leaves a nice hoppy and smoky finish. I hope this becomes a Red Brick standard, because I sure could return to it again and again and again!

12 oz bottle pours a dark black color with a nice tan head. Aromas of citrus, pine, chocolate in the background. Full bodied, complex with a bitter finish. Good.
