Red Brick Dog Days Ale has a the thinnest, off-white head and an initially clear, golden, bubbly appearance, with clouds up, once the caked bottom contents are swished and poured in. There is no lacing to speak of. Aroma is strongly of banana and maybe some white wheat bread, and the flavor is also predominately banana, with some background coriander, white bread, lemon, and a shade of bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and soft, and Red Brick Dog Days Ale finishes crisp, refreshing, and enjoyable. Really good stuff. RJT

Red Brick Dog Days Ale doesn’t measure up as a German Hefewiezen. Aroma is almost like a fake banana smell upon the initial pour, but it quickly disappears with the fizzy head that lasts only a few seconds. The color is a translucent deep yellow (again, almost artificial looking.) That same fake banana is in the initial taste but quickly disappears leaving the sensation of drinking seltzer water. No clove or peppery notes detected as would be expected in a Hefe and is not very satisfying without the usual white fluffy head. Dog Days Ale is better left to the dogs.

Murky gold, not much head. Smells grainy and citrusy. It’s a wee bit heavy, too. Flavor is citrus and, I don’t know, wheaty? Some pine in the finish.
