Bottle. Pours a dark mahogany with a medium-sized off-white head. Aroma is great: roasted malt, lots of coffee and chocolate, slightly sweet. Flavor is quite different. Coffee, chocolate, roast malt, but emphasis is on tart licorice. Fairly light palate; some astringency.

4 oz sample. Pours black with a little light coming through. Aroma is nice and roasty with some sweet chocolate as well, also some burnt notes. Taste is nice, sweet and bitter. Great beer and a surprise because this brewery is fairly new to me and I wasn’t expecting something this good.

Draft. Clear, dark copper with a decent tan head. The nose is of roasted, nutty and chocolate. The flavor is cocoa malts and roastiness. A nice brew for a backyard brewery. Will drink again for sure.
