Weep for your Northern brethren: Long winters, suspect college football, and perhaps worst of all, no Red Brick beer. Since 1993 we’ve been brewing fine craft beers for the South and only the South. We’re proud to stand alongside grits, hound dogs and Mama as embodiments of the Southern lifestyle. We’re proud to be beer from around here. Until ’10 was known as Red Brick Double Chocolate Oatmeal Porter.

As of late 2014 - Now known as Red Brick Thick Silky Double Chocolate Oatmeal Porter

From a bottle. Pours black with a thin light head. Tastes like burnt, smokey coffee. Smells like like coffee beans and spices. Medium body and medium carbonation.

Deep amber/brown pour with thin off white head and light sticky lacing ... aroma of roasted, caramel and chocolate malts .... taste is chocolatey with a nice caramel and lightly roasted malt .... nice balanced flavors ... mouthfeel is a little slick and body isn’t too thin for a porter .... finishes dry and malty .... nice easy drinking porter abv hidden very well

Dark brown pour with a large khaki head, a lot of foamy lacing sticks around. Super-sweet aroma of chocolate, malt, and caramel. Taste follows - maybe a little too sweet, and the booziness isn’t balanced in the taste. Good enough, but probably wouldn’t buy again.

Nose: roast coffee, dark roasted malt. Occasional floral/herbal notes. Taste: lots of dark roast coffee. Just enough bittering hops. Good mouth feel, not too syrupy.

UPDATED: MAR 11, 2013 Coffee bitter like taste. Solid porter, but lacking a bit of mouth feel. Malt in the middle, but only slight.

12 fl oz bottle at Abraxas, Miami Beach, on December 2, 2012.
Clear dark brown color, huge rocky tan head. Sweet, spicy, herbal scent. Smoke, mineral, malty, toffee taste. Coffee aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness. Very spritzy mouthfeel.
When drinking from the bottle instead of the glass it grows a lot in the mouth. Some dough scent too.
I think this bottle was a bad one.

Pours a dark mahogany brownish black, with a large foamy head. Nose is malty and chocolate. Taste is malty with a nice chocolate taste, not over the top regarding sweetness. Carbonation is soft, with a medium texture. Finish is dry, and finishes light despite the ABV. Quaff Score 7 / 10

12oz bottle $2 at Beverage World in Ft. Oglethorpe. Dark black-brown, which is it? Smells roasty and in line with the style. Taste was rich, almost sweet, too much alcohol for a porter in my opinion but this was still not a chore to drink and tasted just fine. I would just prefer a porter at 5% abv so I can have more than one. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 09-26-2010 23:16:24
