Weep for your Northern brethren: Long winters, suspect college football, and perhaps worst of all, no Red Brick beer. Since 1993 we’ve been brewing fine craft beers for the South and only the South. We’re proud to stand alongside grits, hound dogs and Mama as embodiments of the Southern lifestyle. We’re proud to be beer from around here. Until ’10 was known as Red Brick Double Chocolate Oatmeal Porter.

As of late 2014 - Now known as Red Brick Thick Silky Double Chocolate Oatmeal Porter

Deep cloudy red brown color with off white lacing. Nice medium chocolate aroma that leads imto a medium bodied beer with similar qualities. Great little beer for the cooler weather seasons.

2/22/12. 12oz bottle. Didn’t realize I hadn’t had this before and/or it’s new... dark brown pour with a small khaki head. Light aroma with milk chocolate and a touch of roast. Slightly sweet chocolate flavor as well with some roasty bitterness. Aside from the fact that it’s a little watery, I can’t say this is that bad, honestly.

On tap in a tulip. Solid black pour with a large brown head. The aroma is milk chocolate with dusty grain. The flavor is somewhat mild with a hint of chocolate, a touch of roast, and not much else going on.

Bottle from Liz. Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma of roast dark malt with chocolate and maybe a hint of coffee. Med + body. Flavor is dark milk chocolate with smooth burnt malt and mild coffee. Good porter.

Pours very dark brown with a large foamy tan head. Smells like chocolate. Also toasted malt. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is chocolate over toasted malt. Finishes a bit chalky and pretty dry. Maybe a touch of smoke. Or not. Quite smooth.

Bottle. Pours a cola-like brown with a fizzy head and aromas of toasty malt and a bit of cola and dark sugar. Flavor is a bit thin, but decent. Mouthfeel could be a little thicker too.

Bottle. Clear, cola/red-brown body. Smallish head leaves a lasting, tan ring. Big milk chocolate in the nose with some medium roast coffee. A hint of raisin. Flavor brings more chocolate - in your face here. Still milky, but edges into the darker, more bitter realm of chocolate. Coffee roast comes up strong in the finish...almost espresso like. Medium-light body with moderate carbonation for the style. Drinks easy. Lightly sweet up front with a fairly bitter finish. A nice, well done robust porter.

glennmastrange (2405) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - OCT 17, 2011
Bottle. Moderate malt note of toasted, light to moderate hop and yeast notes of herbs and earth, with charcoal, cola and milk in the background. Head is small, frothy, light tan with a bit of slippery lacing until it fully diminishes. Color is clear dark red/brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and lightly to moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a lively carbonation and a chalky and dry finish. Toasty, rich aromas and flavors from Porter, nice.
