Weep for your Northern brethren: Long winters, suspect college football, and perhaps worst of all, no Red Brick beer. Since 1993 we’ve been brewing fine craft beers for the South and only the South. We’re proud to stand alongside grits, hound dogs and Mama as embodiments of the Southern lifestyle. We’re proud to be beer from around here. Until ’10 was known as Red Brick Double Chocolate Oatmeal Porter.

As of late 2014 - Now known as Red Brick Thick Silky Double Chocolate Oatmeal Porter

Bottled. A hazy dark brown beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma is sweet with a light touch of acidity and notes of herbs and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet and acidic and strong notes of herbs combined with light notes of alcohol and metal, leading to a dry roasted finish. The alcohol bites lightly in the tongue. Thanks to Papsoe.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Pours a clear dark orangey brown with a huge and frothy off-white head. Sweet roasted nose. Medium body, sweet roast and quite some licorice. Some malt astringency. Not a bad Porter. 270411

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of CaptainCougar. Hazy, dark brown with a tint of orange and a beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and vitamins - and then a distinct tartness. Medium body with sweet, roasted malt and then the sourness reappears. Clearly infected - sad. 030707

Dark brown color; the head disappears quite quickly. The aroma shows also some rotten apple. Caramel/malt taste, still with the fruitness from an overripe apple. Funky (read Papsø below).

Dark brown. Thin head. Big coffeeish aroma with light chocolate notes. Rick, thick porter with light smoky character, and lots of coffee notes. A big misleading to call it "porter" when clearly they are aiming for something a little bigger than that name unadorned implies, but it is a pretty good beer.
Earlier Rating: 3/24/2006 Total Score: 3.4
Dark brown colour. Oaty, malty, nutty aroma with silky milk chocolate accents. Malty with nice silky chocolatey notes, but some astringent woody ones as well. Dry, woody, hoppy finish.

A: The pour is a dark brown color with some notes of red in the right light. The head fills up about 90% of the glass and takes several minutes to die down before I can drink the beer. I should have taken this as a warning, but I guess I’m not quite that intelligent. S: The aroma of this beer is simply repulsive. Vinegar, ammonia, acetone, wood stain, rotten fruit, and garbage are among the descriptors I have decided are appropriate. T: You’d think the appearance and aroma would have been enough to keep me from drinking any of this, but no...Again, I question my decision making skills. Alcohol, rotten cherries, spoiled chocolate, vinegar, and fruit punch (of all things) make up the flavor profile. Mmmmm. M: The body, well, let’s call it light to medium. The carbonation was simply excessive and if nothing else, did a good job of scouring my tongue. D: Simply dreadful. Obviously infected, but this is easily one of the worst instances of a beer becoming infected that I’ve come across. Step your game up, Red Brick.
