12 oz bottle pours a dark brown color with a medium tan head. Aromas of vanilla, chocolate, sweet roasted malt, some smoke in the background. Medium bodied, a little too sweet

Dark black brown body. Think pale brown head. No lacing. Smell is whiskey, vanilla, chocolate and a little smoke. Flavor is overly sweet and cloying. Vanilla and roasted, chocolaty malts. Medium bodied, thin finish.

Top notch. The nose is roast and chocolate with touches of smoky vanilla. Transparent black with a tight fine beige head. Balanced between sweet malt and vanilla flavors and roast and smoke bitterness. Full side of medium bodied with a smooth carbonation and mouth feel and a balanced finish.

I hope this was infected, because I can’ imagine they meant for it to smell and taste like this. I smelled sour, like vinegar, with some vanilla in the back. Tasted even more sour than it smelled, with just a little vanilla. No smoke. No chocolatey, coffee porter flavors. Drain pour. Will re-rate as soon as I can find it again.

12 oz bottle pours black with a tan head. Aroma of smoke, wood, malt and a hint of sweetness. Taste was kind of funky, smokey then tart, not much else.

Dark brown color with fleeting tan head. Big smoked meat, leather, wood char, chocolate aromas. Light body. Vanilla, wood, smoked meat, wood char flavors--good

Bottle - gift courtesy of my friend Noel. Dark cola colored brown with a tall, fluffy tan head. Aroma is strong wood notes, smoked cedar, and faint vanilla. Taste is chocolate covered cherries, peat, oak, roasted malt and vanilla notes. Body is light-medium with soft, creamy carbonation. Ends with more chocolate covered cherries, wet oak, smoked malt, peat/iodine and soft vanilla.

Appearance: pours smoky brown under a voluminous tan head which fades slow and blotchy. Swirls creamy like whipped chocolate mousse.
Nose: smoke, vanilla, caramel, chocolate nougat, and bourbon in the back. Rich. Smoke all around. Melting caramel and vanilla. Tannins in the nose.
Palate: unfortunately much thinner than the nose implied with an unexpected tannic tartness leading the way – cherry skins and leather. Smoke, plums, and tart cherries. Leather and old wood in the finish. Sides of cheeks tingle. Peaty meaty bacony smoky middle with a weak beginning and a weak finish.
Final Thoughts: the nose was amazing but unfortunately the palate didn’t really measure up. Not bad but definitely not great – just alright.

clear brown, small light brown head. very nice aroma of roast, wood, faint licorice, vanilla, very nice.. flavor is sour, vanilla, roasteed malts.

Very unique brew here. Smokey, yet somewhat sweet from the vanilla with a faint tartness of black cherry.
