12oz bottle shared by drowland, pours a very dark brown with a tannish head and some lacing through out the glass, the aroma had a hint of bourbon with a sweetness of vanilla, the flavor was pretty weak for a BA beer, the whiskey really doesn’t shine through all that much, slight chocolate flavor in the finish, really thin mouthfeel.

Bottle thanks to thome50. Poured dark brown almost black with a beige head. Aroma was bourbon, oak, chocolate, and bbq. Flavor was on par with the nose. Body was heavy with low carbonation.

12oz bottle from Liquor Loft. Black/brown pour with tan head. Aroma is sweet malts, oak and whiskey. Tastes are smoke, vanilla, dark fruit, ash, meaty, cocoa and coffee. Smoke is subtle (always good for me) and leaves a roasty bitterness. Not a smoke fan - but pretty decent.

This beer actually had way to much going on, and was not well balanced imo. The aroma was yeasty with smoke, earth and leaves. The color was black with a nice tan head. The taste was actually what I disliked about this beer. The "smoke" flavor completely overwhelmed the other flavors. I wouldn’t call it a smoke flavor as much as I would call it a harsh burned flavor, No vanilla flavor was noticed in the beer. Would not recommend.

Draft… This beer rocks!… Black ale with a small, fluffy, khaki head. Decent retention. The aroma is of milk chocolate and robust vanilla flanked by light hickory smoke and a touch of maple syrup. Full-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and medium carbonation. The flavor unveils toasted nuts, chocolate and vanilla. Pleasantly sweet, milk chocolate and vanilla finish. Very agreeable. World class stuff!

Bottle from Stein’s Deli in New Orleans. Pours dark with a nice, lasting tan head. Nothing too blockbuster here but I enjoy the mellow mix of smoke, vanilla and a lil bourbon. Malty, creamy and smooth. I would drink this pretty regularly if the price and availability were right.

Pours dark brown/black w/ a small tan head. Aroma is heavy smoke, wood, leaves, dark chocolate and vanilla. Avg. carb med/full body - smooth mouthfeel and finish is fairly dry. Smoke flavor up front w/ roasted malt, some burnt sugar & vanilla notes - coffee, oats and leather. Finish is dark roast coffee in bitterness. Interesting and enjoyable brew, good complexity and nice sipper. Though personally I won’t seek it out again simply due to the smokiness. Not really my thing regularly.

Pours a very dark mahogany color with a medium sticky brown head. The aroma is ash and chocolate, perhaps a hint of barrel. A sweet vanilla flavor, some very light whiskey, ash, cocoa, milky, some light roast, Very mellow, the barrel is slight.

Pours darkest brown. Light brown finger of head. Light oak and Bourbon, slight chocolate and a massive vanilla note. Meaty smokiness shows when warmer. Vanilla bursts out on the taste, definitely like vanilla beans. Some chocolate and subtle oak and Bourbon notes. Smoke us present and adds a nice element. Medium bodied, clean finish. Good brew. My favorite Brick Mason brew.

12oz bottle. Pours a nice deep chocolate brown with a small tan head that recedes slowly to a thick collar. Aroma is interesting and heavy on smoked malts with some hints of vanilla. There are some roasty malts and a little bakers chocolate underneath. The taste is excellent and has a few interesting things going on. The smoked malts are still there but the vanilla is a little more prominent as is the chocolate and malts in the backbone. Smooth feel with good carbonation. I’m a big, big fan of this beer and I’m pretty excited about what ABC has been putting out lately. Get some now.
