Bottle. Pours a near-black color with effectively zero head. Nose has some roasting and smokey notes to it. Taste is much smokier than the nose, but very tasty. Smooth drink.

A nearly black, clear liquid, topped by a moderate tan head.
Smoke, whiskey, oak and dark malt in the nose. There’s a hint of vanilla in both the nose and the mouth, and it lingers into the aftertaste. A hint of hops in the flavor too, but the major change is from the very sweet aroma to a slightly sour taste.
O: too smoky and poorly balanced for my taste. Glad they have gone back to the non-smoked version.

Bottle. Pours opaque black, small brown head, dissipates quickly, done lacing. Aroma is light smoke, roasted malt. Flavor is very smoky, almost artificial smoke, medium sweet, kind of sickly. Astringent smoked teriyaki meat. Light bitter. Sour. Are we infected perhaps? Medium body. No.

Bottle. From who the hell knows where. Pours a dark brown color with a light tan head. Aroma is smoked, beefy, vanilla bean and some malts. Flavor is sour, tart, smoky and roasted malts. Very sour. Yuck.

Bottle from Fratto. Pours very dark. Smells of malt and alcohol, slight sour. Tastes more sour than porter should be, very smoky. I don’t get much vanilla from this bottle. Sour smoke?!

I’m not a big fan of this beer. The smoke is a bit overwhelming and the vanilla accentuates an off sourness to it. Josh brought this back from his trip to Mississippi.

This beer has a little, to non- existent head, and a deep coffee like color. It is thick, with a smoky aroma. It has a lightly smokey taste, with subtle vanilla overtones. Excellent beer.

Creamy vanilla iced coffee nose with hints of wood and smoke. I think the smoke comes across as a chili pepper-like spiciness moreso than a salty or umami impression. Big, rich dark chocolate flavors with a boozey undertone that blends well with the hop bitterness. I think the strength of barrel and booziness in the mid through to the finish overpowers any of the smoked flavors, which isn’t a bad thing for me.
