Pours a deep, warm, opaque sable with a fairly thick and fine-bubbled tan head. Smoky aroma has a firm overtone of semi-sweet chocolate and more than a hint of vanilla, plus hints of caramel and quality coffee. Flavor - oo la la, like drinking a Hershey bar with Irish coffee! Strongly chocolaty, plus coffee, roast malt, caramel, vanilla, hints of licorice and woody hops. Absolutely lip-smacking. Firm texture has plenty of fizz and life. Where does a vanilla gorilla drink beer? Anywhere he (or she) wants to! :D

Bottle. Very dark brown with a medium, tan head. Love the aroma, hints of chocolate and vanilla with just a touch of coffee. Taste is the same as the aroma with a sweet upfront taste with a coffee-bitter aftertaste.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Vanilla Gorilla falls on the side of pricier beers but offers a nice pour, some head, and hints of vanilla, and bitter chocolate/cocoa hints. Early on the taste is like any other vanilla porter but then finishes very bitter. In the end this beer has a nice medium body and fair taste but is not for those who like sweeter vanilla porters.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a deep pitch black with a one finger medium tan head that fades away rather quickly leaving a thick ring around the top of the beer.
Vanilla is strongly present in the aroma along with heavy roasted malt. There is a touch of coffee and dark chocolate along with a whiff of dark fruits.
The vanilla is even more present in the taste along with plenty of nuttiness and more dark fruit. The coffee is more restrained but lots of roast is still there. Mouthfeel is thick and silky with a lingering sweetness. There is a quick note of alcohol towards the finish.
Overall, this beer is not quite outstanding but it is pretty well put together. What it lacks in depth it makes up for in drinkability. I probably wonít pick it up again but Iím glad I got to try it.

Bottle from Total Wine in Stuart served at cellar temperature. Pours a rich, very dark brown with a tan head leaving a lot of spotty lacing. Aroma has hersheyís chocolate, some roast, caramel and vanilla. Rich, sweet and luscious. Taste is of sweet milk chocolate, oats, vanilla, some caramelly malts and some roast. Medium bodied and "fully rolled oats" smoooooth. Almost no alcohol presence - would have classified as a porter. And a good one! Finishes sweetly, but held back from cloyingly so by the roast and the oats over the top. Very nice, solid, tasty brew.

Bottle from Trinity Liquors. Pours a deep porter brown with a tan head. Nose is chocolate, slight roast, cocoa, and some candy bar/ nougat qualities. Flavor starts off chocolate and vanilla, then moves to slight roast and chocolate, then finishes off-dry with lingering memories of vanilla. Definitely nicer as it warms, and the finish is a bit dry and strange for this one.

Dark brown beer with a slightly off-white head. Aromas of mild coffee and vanilla. Tastes of bittersweet coffee, some earthy flavors, nutty notes, sweet chocolate, and nice touches of vanilla. Sweet vanilla finish. A bit smoky too. Sweeter than I thought it would be. Very smooth and surprisingly medium bodied. Good job on not letting the vanilla flavors get engulfed by the coffee ones. Tasty.

Black. Opaque. Chocolate milk foam head. Milky aroma. Between the vanilla and the sweetness, thereís a chocolate milkshake quality to this. A slight woodiness in the finish Iím assuming from the vanilla.
