Bottle grabbed in Knoxville on the way to FL hiding from tornados. Fantastic aroma of sweetened coffee and roasted nuts. Wow, great flavor too: sugar up front and coffee in the finish. Surprisingly nice.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
One of the better beers I’ve had, pours pitch black with a thing film of khaki head. Smells of vanilla and loads of chocolate up front, taste is a bit sweet some vanilla and caramel notes come up. Loads of chocolate, almost as thick as chocolate milk. Great beer by Red Brick

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Moderate dark chocolate and molasses for the malt, light dough for the yeast, no noticeable hop smell, with vanilla cake, alcoholic and bourbon. Head is small, frothy, tan with no lacing but good legs. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly to moderately acidic, then finishes lightly bitter. Palate is full, creamy with a soft carbonation and a lightly alcoholic finish. Mellow in flavor and aroma, but this Imperial Porter’s mouthfeel is rich and creamy.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Very dark brown with a medium, tan head. Love the aroma, hints of chocolate and vanilla with just a touch of coffee. Taste is the same as the aroma with a sweet upfront taste with a coffee-bitter aftertaste.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Vanilla Gorilla falls on the side of pricier beers but offers a nice pour, some head, and hints of vanilla, and bitter chocolate/cocoa hints. Early on the taste is like any other vanilla porter but then finishes very bitter. In the end this beer has a nice medium body and fair taste but is not for those who like sweeter vanilla porters.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a deep pitch black with a one finger medium tan head that fades away rather quickly leaving a thick ring around the top of the beer.
Vanilla is strongly present in the aroma along with heavy roasted malt. There is a touch of coffee and dark chocolate along with a whiff of dark fruits.
The vanilla is even more present in the taste along with plenty of nuttiness and more dark fruit. The coffee is more restrained but lots of roast is still there. Mouthfeel is thick and silky with a lingering sweetness. There is a quick note of alcohol towards the finish.
Overall, this beer is not quite outstanding but it is pretty well put together. What it lacks in depth it makes up for in drinkability. I probably won’t pick it up again but I’m glad I got to try it.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Total Wine in Stuart served at cellar temperature. Pours a rich, very dark brown with a tan head leaving a lot of spotty lacing. Aroma has hershey’s chocolate, some roast, caramel and vanilla. Rich, sweet and luscious. Taste is of sweet milk chocolate, oats, vanilla, some caramelly malts and some roast. Medium bodied and "fully rolled oats" smoooooth. Almost no alcohol presence - would have classified as a porter. And a good one! Finishes sweetly, but held back from cloyingly so by the roast and the oats over the top. Very nice, solid, tasty brew.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Trinity Liquors. Pours a deep porter brown with a tan head. Nose is chocolate, slight roast, cocoa, and some candy bar/ nougat qualities. Flavor starts off chocolate and vanilla, then moves to slight roast and chocolate, then finishes off-dry with lingering memories of vanilla. Definitely nicer as it warms, and the finish is a bit dry and strange for this one.
