From bottle. Pours with very little head that doesnt last long. Sweet caramel and peat aroma. No hop aroma. Dark brown and hazy. Good caramel and slight chocolate taste with rich peat/roasty taste.

Bottle from Knightly Spirits in Orlando. Amber/cola pour with minimal head. Very nice aroma of smoked peat and caramel. Pretty solid palate, and a nice malty taste. Good stuff.

On tap at Taco Mac. Pours a clear deep amber with a gray head that dissipates nearly completely. Aroma has sweet grains and caramel with a good amount of light floral hops. Flavor starts with a bit of grassy hops but finishes with sweet grain and caramel.

Nice chewy malts. Almost like a snickers bar without the chocolate. It’s a rich beer, very full, but not overly sweet or cloying.

7/27/12. 12oz bottle from Grassroots. Brown pour, lots of red under the light, with a small khaki head that fades and barely laces at all. Sweet caramel aroma with touches off toffee, coffee, chocolate, and a hint of smoke. Light flavor with caramel, toffee, chocolate, coffee, and smoke, but it’s all pretty light. The body is also extremely light. All in all, the flavor is there, but it’s all so light it’s pretty disappointing.

Draft at the Distillery in Savannah. Thick and meaty brown. The head is tight but firm (gee, that sounds sexy). There’s definitely a smoky angle to this, but drinks with a sweet malty bite, settling the original smokiness a bit. Pleasant enough to drink. (#4704, 7/24/2012)

Good. The nose is full of brown sugar with hints of clove and a smoky background. The beer is a deep cola brown with a creamy head and lots of lacing. The taste is the same sweetness, but the peat smoke notes overwhelm the spice flavors. Clean, medium plus, and a touch cloying. A good scotch ale but not the best.

Comes out of the tap an opaque dark chocolaty brown with a fine-bubbled pale yellow-beige head that leaves very generous lacing - more like a curtain than lacing! Malty aroma has notes of cloves, caramel and cinnamon. Satisfying malty flavor delights with notes of cloves and caramel. Texture has firm body and plenty of tingle. Look for this one, laddies and lasses!

Bottle from Sam’s. Deep, dark amber with a small yellowish white head. Nose of metal, light buttered popcorn jelly belly, faint peaty malts. Flavor is tad better, very smokey, light peat, malty and light hops. Mouthfeel feels a little thin and slick.
