3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
330ml bottle. This dark complex beer carries a head of sandy foam. Looks strong and bold in the glass. Carbonation persists until the end. Aroma has vanilla and malt notes throughout while not overpowering they are enough to make you want to drink it. Big ballsy flavour that coats the tongue.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours dark, dark brown with no head. Can smell the vanilla on the nose straight away. Quite sweet yt balanced behind some heavy roast and a touch of ash. Sweet caramel in the taste with a touch of coffee but the roast and vanilla overrun those quite quickly through the taste. Ok but not great

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Dark brown with an inch of beige head that fades to a coat but laces quite well. Aroma of roasted malt, dark caramel, leafy yeast, vanilla, stewed prunes. The vanilla is brooding rather than wild in the nose. Very silky mouthfeel. Mouthfilling but not heavy, well disguised alcohol. Much more vanilla overtones in the taste, which is sweet with dark fruits, chocolate and caramel. Quite firm roasted flavours. All melds pretty nicely with the vanilla which is a lot more prominent in the mouth than in the nose. Some pepper at the end too. Helps that Iím keen on vanilla for this one, obviously.

Bottle 330ml from Purvis. Great sweet porter. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla, coffee, and herbs. Taste is sweet, with long length. Palate is velvety, with a medium-to-full body. Black, with a thin head.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours ruby-tinged black with a large, light tan head.
Nose shows roasted malt, coffee and soft vanilla. All pretty faint.
Lots more roasted malt as flavours, however the vanilla stays in the background. Some sweet caramel shows later before a mild roasty bitterness enters. Finish is slightly metallic.
Carbonation is a little high, body somewhat thin.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Not bad at all. A long way from traditional porter, as youíd expect, with a peaty cola, a stinky note and a sliver of sweetness from the vanilla. Actually once you get past the cola and peat itís actually quite sweet. Quite fizzy as per the house style.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours almost black with a beige head. Aroma is malt, vanilla, raisins and other fruit, chocolate and some yeast. Taste is medium sweet leading to a sweetish finish. Decent, although a little disappointing.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a tiny and quickly fading light beige head, which leaves no lace. Banana, milk chocolate and some vanilla make up a quite sweet aroma. Mild spice hops up front lead into some slightly douhgy Belgian yeast and chocolate. The vanilla comes in towards the finish, along with strong and sweet banana. The name says it all about this beer. It is a porter, with added vanilla and some Belgian yeast flavours. It all works together fairly well, but it is all a bit subdued: it lacks a real wow factor. Worth trying.
