COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Calcutta Gazette, 1822, advertised goods just landed after a 4 month voyage around the Cape of Good Hope: “Hodgson’s warranted prime pale ale of the genuine October brewing, warranted fully equal, if not superior, to any ever before received in the settlement.”

Red Duck Bengal IPA is a beer that pays homage to the original British IPAs, but with a modern touch by using generous, but not aggressive, amounts of Centennial and Cascade hops. The bitterness is moderate for this style, around 55-60 IBUs, and at 7% Alc/vol, it means that this is a really drinkable IPA.

Bengal IPA has a great balance between hop flavours, aromas and rich malt characters. Pale malt and a small amount of caramalt has given the ale a deep golden amber colour. And the good news is we have added Bengal to our regular brews, so it is available all year round.

Pours cloudy amber with a light hop and slight sweet caramel aroma. Wow the flavour a huge hop resin flavour hit! then backed up by a nice balance of caramalt. Aroma was a little bit of a let down but this is a well crafted beer none the less.

From a 330ml bottle on 7/5/2011. Pours a cloudy orange amber, with a modest head. Has a pleasant citrus pine aroma, with some toffee and floral notes. The flavours include grapefruit, orange, marmalade, caramel and toffee. This is nice and hoppy, like any good IPA should be, with the quite firm, lingering bitterness. A very good, well made beer.
