Good size, lasting off-white on a dark bronze body. Hop aroma and hop flavour, a nice little bit of bite, not a lot of malt supporting and a good long finish. I liked it.

Pours a very hazy copper/orange with a nice persistent cream head leaving nice lacing. Very sharp hoppy aroma, lots of grapefruit, pine and spicy notes. A hint of tropical fruit later, namely pineapple. Sweet caramel malt evident underneath. Hops is to sharp, I would have liked more sweet fruit or resiny notes. Flavours follow in the footsteps of the aroma: aggressively hoppy, with little in the way of supporting malt. Some hints of grapefruit and caramel. The finish is impressively long-lasting though. Good rich body, carbonation is a bit full-on though. Needs more crystal malt or similar to balance the almost medicinal bitterness.

Pours a slightly murky light copper with a tight off white head. Light peach and vanilla in the aroma, quite earthy and soft. Some light spicy notes, I can’t really tell if its from esters or hops, perhaps a little of both. Chewy mouthfeel, perhaps a slight bit cloying and not bitter at all for an IPA. Flavour is a bit on the sweet side, lots of stonefruit, a touch of fusel alcohol and the bitterness comes through in the finish quite strongly. An interesting take on an IPA, not too enjoyable at first but easy to get into. Probably the best effort I’ve tried from this brewery. A bit hot in the finish.

Bottle. Pours muddy copper with very little head. Nose is spicy hops and the flavour is not much different but with the addition of a hint of toffee. Palate is fairly sharp with a fairly long bitter finish. Alcohol is not very noticeable. Not a bad IPA but nothing outstanding either.

Draught at The Local Taphouse, Sydney. Pours dark amber with a nicely laced beige head. Aroma and flavour of caramel malt, tropical fruit, marmalade and apricot. Smooth and malty mouthfeel. Subtle hop bitterness in the finish. A solid English style IPA.

Pours murky amber with next to no head. Nose has a lot of orange with some mild apricot/peach as well. Palate is surprisingly tame given the high abv and that it is an IPA. Caramel malt & over-ripe stone-fruit seem a little mashed together. Finish has mild hop bitterness but the abv pops up toward the end and dominates. Too much so, almost medicinal. I have found this common of higher abv red duck beers. The golden dragon could handle it, this can not.

Fluffy white head with good lasting lacing. Orange coloured and slightly cloudy in appearance. Aromas are of apricot and orange zest with plenty of piney hops. The palate doesn’t disappoint. Full flavoured, malty and hoppy. Well balanced with roasted malt, nutty, soft and creamy with alcohol warmth and hop bitterness adding to the pleasure. Good length on the finish. A very good interpretation of the style and very easy drinking.
