3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Plonk. Deep mahogany, raisins, caramel/cola, fruit cake/pudding, some spice, not overly bitter, nice sweet malt finish. Really nice.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy deep ruby, with a small off-white head, which lasts reasonably well without leaving much lacing. The aroma is soft and fruity, with some plum, candied fruit and floral hops notes. Mild floral hops and a touch of allspice up front lead into fruitcake and plum characteristics in the mid-palate. There is a little sweet spice in the finish. This is not the most exciting beer around, but it is a nice enough sweeter session ale.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml bottle. Pours with a burnt copper colour, like as light cola. Beige head that settles quickly. Caramel and butterscotch in the nose makes for a pleasant anticipation. Malt flavour with light bitterness and light on the palate.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours a very deep mahogany with a very frothy light tan coloured head. Disappears pretty quickly to nothing. Decent malt aromas supported by dark fruits and some dark toffee. Unfortunately though I also get plenty of slightly off yeast aromas coming through. Flavours are a little bland. There is definately some malt sweetness but not much else. Mouthfeel is on the thin side. Didn’t really enjoy this.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear reddy body with no head and dots of yeast floating throughout. Dried fruits on the aroma which show up well in the taste also, some hints of cardboard notes. Didn’t notice the alcohol, late caramel and toffee coming through.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours murky brown with a rapidly fading head.
Nose shows a little bit of earthy peat, loads of golden syrup, brown sugar and alcohol. Some spicy hops become apparent later.
Flavours are more focussed on nutty malt and spices. Unfortunately the malt is a little cardboard-y.
Body is somewhat watery.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle 330ml. Great christmas beer. Aromas of cherries, caramel, and a hint of alcohol. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, and good length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Brown, the head doesn’t last.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 12C. Dark copper with a small beige head. Aroma has slightly singed toffee, raisins, grass and a little lemon rind. Taste is moderately sweet with good malt complexity - there’s a little roasted/ burnt flavour, dried fruit and some chocolate. A little spice at the end. There’s a bit of old ale (of the Rev. James type) about this. Another Red Duck beer that’s subtle and slightly anachronistic.
