Poors jet black with a tan head, plenty of sediments and floaties in there too just suspended. Get that it may be a unfiltered, organic beer but just looks awfull. Not much aroma slight roasted malts. Big flavour of molasses. Donít get much in the way of any hot chocolate or any chilli. Pretty disappointing beer.

Bottle. Pours jet black with smallish tan coloured head. Falls away super quickly. Aromas are slightly subdued against what i expected but do show some roasted grain, dark chocolate and a little dark fruits. A little minerally with slight carbonic bite. A touch of warm alcohol to wrap the whole thing up. Taste shows plenty of sweetness with only a little roasted grain bitterness to balance. Initially this seemed greatly over carbonated but as it warmed this fell away and it become a heap more nicer to drink. Medium mouthfeel. Not too bad.

Bottle from Slowbeer. Dark brown/black with thin quickly disappearing head. Aroma of sweet hot chocolate and roasted grains. Smooth, velvety, easy drinking with nice residual grainy/roasty bitterness. Quite nice, if a bit dry on the finish.

Bottle, 11C. Left lots of gunge in the bottle. Black with a coat of tan head that doesnít last. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate , coffee, star anise, roasted seaweed. A little whiff of unintegrated alcohol. Silky texture. Taste has bitter chocolate, the promised hint of chile (like dry-roasted Sri Lankan ones, not fruity at all) slightly astringent coffee. Dry finish is ashy and quite bitter, with astringent and salty notes. Not what I expected - itís quite severe and thereís no cuddly sweetness to it, the depth is all underneath. Reminds me of some De Molen beers. Good characterful stuff.

Bottle from Swords Vic Market. Great. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, and anisette. Taste is sweet, with very long length. Palate is creamy, and full bodied. Brown, with residues, and a frothy head.

Pours hazy brown with a large, fading head. Nose shows chocolate, some harsh alcohol, a fair bit of roasted malt and a soapy character. Flavours follow along the same lines; chocolate, plain roasted malt, hot alcohol. Could use more carbonation. A couple of issues with this one.
